I have a Roush 427R that I'm wanting to replace the stock valve covers with the finned 427 Cobra Ford Racing VCs. They all have a caveat that they may need modification to work with roller rockers. I did a search but couldn't locate a thread dealing specifically with the 427R and replacement VCs
Anyone have experience with this engine and aftermarket VCs as far as clearing the rockers?
I never had a Roush engine and the roller rockers are just a little higher than the stock ones. So I got a thicker valve cover gasket from Felpro that was laminated and it works great for the lower finned Cobra valve covers. I have used them for about 15 years now with no problems. I have a 351W stroked out to 410.

Hey there, I did replacement valve covers on my 427sr. All you need are "tall" valve covers and they work just fine. Many "cobra" branded covers are available. I got mine at shelby engines dot com. They were great to work with! I would not attempt to modify standard heights with extra spaces or gaskets.
