But to your point, the slabside is a bit too British for my taste. There seems to be a bit of a backlash recently with the 427 shape but to me, that voluptuous/muscular shape is the "be all, end all" with sports cars. I don't tire from it nor fault it in any way.

in fact the cobra IS a british sports car (with an american engine ) and the 1953 tojeiro-design is the iconographic archetype of any sportscar
it is now as cool as 63 years ago,
for me the 2.0-design of the 2,6 ace rudspeed is the best,
unfortunately bigger wheels could not be mounted so the slabside wheelarches were invented, imho a great step back in the clearness and simlicity of the design,
all other design experiments for bigger and much bigger wheelarches mostly failed imho, respective the great differences between front and rear,
exception eg csx 2001 and some mild race versions
the 427 design solved that problem but turned the early elegance into a muscle-appearance
those who think the 427 is more elegant must see the early design is for chicks

Maybe you could point me to a book where I could learn more about the history of the Cobra.
BTW, did you know my Kirkham is listed in a book?

Oh, so what you're saying is that Shelby saved the original AC from being just a secretary's car?
