I always find it highly amusing that the race commentary has to gloss over the fact that (some of) the cars were built last week  But business is business.....

Nope Trevor, every car on that grid was extant in 1966. Absolutely, positively. I guarantee that every molecule of iron and aluminium was around in 1966. Of course they may have been around a beer can or some bauxite in the ground, but they existed! They just hadn't been arranged as a "GT40" yet..............
