I've heard the same complaint about Michelins. They're great on an SL 65AMG, but a Cobra is too light to keep them warm and sticky.

I've been happy with the Khumo Exstas and Toyo R888. They bite and go.

I owed for twelve years a Lone Star with BFG tires which were alright. The Michelins on my ERA Slabside are far superior in roadability, stopping and starting.

Desgros- which model and tire size are you talking about?
If you're referring to something like a 180 width XAS, I'd agree that they have a brilliant reputation but the sizing is unfortunately irrelevant to the question re: 427 Cobras.

The BFG on my car are 295/50 15 back and 235/60 15 front.

I think that 35 is way too much! I believe the rule of thumb is 1 lb for every 100 lbs of car weight or thereabouts. I'm sure someone will clarify...

I have Nitto 555 drag radials, recently I noted a hitch in the giddy up on the right front side of the car. Went into Discount tire in Surprise and he looked at the manufacture date (2004) stamped on the tire and would not rebalance them. He made me promise him that I would not take the car to any high speed (he didn't define high speed) He said the oils in the tires as the years go by dry up from the inside out and weakens them considerably. Car has 5000 miles so tires have plenty of tread. I took it to a couple other tire centers and without leading them into the subject they all rejected any involvement with them. I took them to Fletchers over by Sun City West and they balanced them. As there are only a few weeks left of driving I've opted to wait until the fall to replace the tires. I will definitely purchase NITTO 555's
