Default Kirkham Motorsports

I have a Kirkham #344. Been trying to get ahold of David for sometime. Anyone know what's up with them, they do not reply to my calls or emails.
Any Kirkham owners know the part or model number of the Penske Shocks that are on the cars without the remote resevoirs? Or does anyone know how many psi. of nitrogen they take? My car has been sitting for 5 years, just installed a new 484 in it. After the first (TEST DRIVE) I think the shocks could use some nitro in them, a little soft.

Default Penske Shocks

Hi Bruce,
I have #268, also a 2004 build. I have not tried to adjust the shocks yet. According to the info that I received with the car, it has Penske Series 8100 reservoir shocks. On the advertising flyer there is a Series 7500 shown that has no reservoir and a fill valve on the top of the shock body. Perhaps this is what you have.

On both styles there is a rebound adjustment wheel at the very bottom. You might want to check these and see what they are set at. Full soft to full hard is 25 sweeps from left to right with a pin tool. There is a minus sign on the left side of the adjustment window and a plus sign on the right side. I have dyno sheets on mine that show rebound set at -10 sweeps and 150 psi nitrogen front and rear. Hope that helps 'cause that's my total knowledge on this setup.

Sam

I have #523 the I have non-adjustable Penske shocks on mine. I had two of them rebuilt a few years ago by Penske and I recall that they were custom built by Penske for Kirkham.
They were (are?) listed on the Penske website with their own part number and all of the valve specs.
I have them somewhere so I'll try to dig them out.

Update:
I've found them. If you PM me your email address, I'll send them to you. It's a spreadsheet with all the details and states the gas pressure as 150 lb/sq in.

Paul
