Default LUCAS 6RA changing internal parts

I’ve some old LUCAS 6RA relays (stamped on the front LUCAS 6RA 33258E) with an opening contact.
Unfortunately I need them with a closing contact.

Does any one of you know, if I can take out the relay out of the metal case (by opening the crimped corners) and insert the electric part out of a LUCAS SRB 146 (change over contact)?

This way I would get the right contacts inside the old case.

ALF,

You need to look for the metal Ford supplied ballast resistor, fortunately the right one will fit in the same area, nice work! With the detail you are going through you may want to change out the Phillips style screws with flat blade hardware too.

Hi John

Many thanks for your feedback and the tips.
To get a NICE WORK from you is a great honor for me as your work and parts are outstanding.

I’ll have an eye open for the blast resistor (as sold by you some months ago on ebay)-
The local hardware store had only this version or the Torx one. I preferred this one, but I see your point and I’ll check for flat blade versions.
CompClassics likes this.

Hi ALF,

Actually the one I had sold was for a Tiger application, the cortex Ford ballast resistor for the Cobras has a flat mounting position like the one in your photo. I'll take a photo of the one in my car and post it.
