I agree, but for bragging rights and for me having a "virgin", new....427 side oiler in my Cobra is great. Would I do it, hum....... realisticly, probably not, unless it was a carb to oil pan NOS engine.
Fun to imagine though.
If HP didn't matter etc.......Would you have the NOS, or rather a new modern,....side oiler ?

I think I would have the carb-to-pan NOS 425hp. That's plenty and it was underrated.

That would make a great barn find.
Maybe I'll pray to the Side Oiler God.

In this instance, my understanding is the price matters more than the HP.
...and seat of the pants 500hp vs 550hp in a cobra is not distinguishable by me at least.
Further given the choice, I'd go a NEW modern block (unless I needed a date code for some specific reason). NOS just ain't, once you build it.
Question is though, can you get a new block built for the same price you can negotiate this NOS build?
Ps. Nice find by the way
Best of luck either way.

Or you could just have Brent build you the below motor but change the heads to the Kasse P51 so that the motor could fit in your car.
B2 Motorsports 529ci Engine Build - Muscle Builder - Modified Mustangs & Fords Magazine
Your new tag choices could be OTOFGAS or FEEATER but I guarantee you would probably be at your local grocery looking for adult diapers to invest in. I rode in my friends SPF Sunday with 600HP and 600TQ and that thing is fast.....he has fresh Avons and coming off those spirited runs it makes me think 700TQ and 750HP would be downright nasty.

Man, what a motor.
Man, what a price.
Brent really knows how to build'em.

My assumption would be that Brent could build you a stroker 385 with a different cylinder head setup at the price point or a lower price point than one of the stroker FE combos. It may not be what you want so I am just referring to actual price point for a 385 vs FE build.
