First ever Shelby Cobra going up for auction - Autoblog

dallas_ 06-30-2016 01:49 PM

It only takes two capable buyers to get the number way up there.

Bernica 06-30-2016 01:51 PM

Yep, two big hats and lots of cattle!;)
Kidding, but might be true.

RodKnock 06-30-2016 02:15 PM

I'm waiting for the 1st nimnuts to ask "What shade of blue is that and what's the color code?," because he or she wants to paint their replica that color.

Looking for guys like Larry Ellison to bid on this one, just so he can say he now has it.

buddyg 06-30-2016 02:50 PM

Why does the odometer show 7 miles and the trip meter show 777?

There can be multiple answers. The mileage is 100007 and the trip odometer is 777.
Or the trip odometer was being sent back to zero and when you do that, the numbers combine like 666, 777, 888, 999, and finally 000.

I'd prefer to see Larry Ellison, Mark Cuban, Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, or one of the other uber-rich American car collectors bring the best bid, rather than seeing it end up on a boat headed for central Europe, or the UAE... %/

Good safe number. It all depends on who is in the room, right?;)

I'm betting that "the room" will get outbid by someone on the phone.

Not going to say how I came up with this, but I did, and you read it here first %/

Yup. You are probably right. The big money doesn't need the publicity and fanfare and will just phone it in.;)

Does the car run at all? Has anyone seen the car driven or the engine turned over?

Yes i saw the video, professionally produced, in a control setting with over 2mins of static shots with some slow motion drive bys. Were you there when RM Sothebys were shooting?

twobjshelbys 06-30-2016 07:00 PM

It is driven in Vegas.

Does it matter if it runs? Does the value decrease because it's not running? G-d forbid you haveto rebuild the drivetrain? That's got to be expensive.:LOL:

Slow motion drive bys? Hardly how I would describe it.
