Default quick jacks

I bought a set of overriders from Finnish line and they are not correct, the holes only allow you to mount them straight vertical because there is no offset on the holes in the back, I called them and they had no fix for this so agreed to let me trade them in for the bumper quick jacks, Iv been looking at pictures of these on cars and have seen them mounted both ways with the bolts on the outside as well as on the inside, does anyone know what is the proper way they should be mounted or is it just personal preference?

I purchased the black quick jacks from finishline and mounted bolts to the outside which I like best. I prefer the the looks of the finishline over the originals as they are not as bulky looking. I also replaced the factory bolt set up with stainless all-thread with stainless stop nuts as I believe the holes in the quick jacks are slightly smaller. I particularly do not like the looks of the acorn nuts.

Ever wondered why these jacks have this odd shape?

....and before you start argue, Pete agrees with me:

Just sent Pete Brock and email and ask why 95% of the Cobras facing the quick jacks the WRONG way.

Bolts on inside look the best.

If you want to use the flat bracket over riders you could buy or make some angled end spacers.

I believe the OP is asking about the Cobra 427 jack hook orientation, which is different than the leaf spring cars. If you're after originality on a small block comp car as completed by SAI, usually the quick jack's were mounted to the frame and the body modified to accept them. Normally spacers were not used. They were mounted using AN bolts, heads exposed and didn't use threaded rod or studs.
They don't show very well in this photo but you can see the body modification around the jack hook.

The only cars I see them turned in are surperformance and Kirkham.

Keeping in mind that there aren't strict rules for how comp cars were built by SAI, Pete's right in that the fronts on a small block car were turned in. ( hook towards the body)

First rule for replicas, "never use current originals as gospel of how they were back then". Even within that, there were changes made between races. So take "rules" with a grain of salt.
