Default Ford GT Racing Results Today

I just got back from watching the new Ford GT's racing today up here at Motorsports Park in Ontario, Canada. The new Ford GT's did it again making it 3 wins in a row. The number #67 Ford GT won it's class while the #66 came in 5th place. There was talk at the track that IMSA added 15 kilograms of additional weight to the Ford GT's before the race to make it more competitive. I haven't been able to confirm that yet. Overall it was a great day of racing.

Yes, I watched it and posted on the existing thread about the LeMans 360 view.
I watched it all and it was a great effort! IMSA threw in all that weight and BoP stufff and they still pulled it off. Quite amazing. BMW and Corvette are pretty demoralized...

They are doing great for a new car and I hope they keep it up.

Yup, but if the street version is going to put out over 600 hp, imagine what they have going there on the track!

While I truely admire the new Ford GT 40, I wonder how in the world can a half-million dollar (street) car can be expected to run equally with the production based Corvette Z06 or the BMW M4 cars, among others. Ganassi Racing spent two years running the engine/trans package in Daytona Prototype class. This car is a race car. Anyone with eighty thousand dollars can buy a Z06 or BMW M4 and identify with the GT class. How many will get a GT 40, even those with big bucks? These cars should not be in the same class. I also understand the FIA penalized the Corvettes two weeks before the 24 Hours of LeMans.

I hear you, but what class would you suggest the FIA put them in?
Also, Ford is pre qualifying perspective FGT buyers to ensure that they will be driven, hopefully with track time. Yup, it's an awesome track car but it's doing just what Ford hoped for...it's drawing attention.

Before we shed too many tears for the Corvettes and BMW's in the GT class, take a look at the rules. The different classes. The Z06 and M4 have nothing to do with $80,000 street cars. They only retain the basic shape and must have been based on a limited number of production cars. Geeez

Corvette scrapped (parked) their specially built C4R race cars in favor of production based Z06 cars a few years ago in order to race in GT.

Agreed. Those Z06 and BMW's on the FIA circuit ain't no $80k cars! Just something of a representation of what each manufacturer currently has in production. And I certainly shed no tears for them!

Don't know for sure about the BMW's, but the stock Corvette aluminum frame structure is used on the their GT cars. As for the Fords, looks like they took a page from Enzo Ferrari by getting a car to compete in GT that was NOT homologated. Where are the 500 publicly-sold units?

I think Ford covered that with their pre-application process where they received around 6,500 applications to purchase the new GT. And yes, they are reportedly only making 500 of them. I agree, it's kind of a magic trick and not like the FIA can go see all 500 built cars yet, at least I don't think so.

Lime Rock this Saturday. A win there would be #5 if you count LeMans!

Ford GT goes for fourth straight IMSA WeatherTech win on Saturday at Lime Rock
