They are recessed into the hubs for shear strength and then retained with a half height locking nut inside the hub. You use a hex key to hold them when torquing.

I think mine are same but would have to check. I have wheels off so will do so tomorrow.

Same place as the racing master cylinders they just extend up from the main body a 1 piece casting. Girling parts
