Default Canepa/last 427 Cobra

I was at the Canepa Cars n Coffee this past Saturday, and they had the *last* 427 in the shop for restoration, among other gems (like two 917s). Last time I was there, I remember seeing this car stripped to bare metal on the rotisserie. Now it seems to be almost complete.

The engine was on a stand in front. Rebuilt by Ed Pink. Talk about a high-buck and high-quality restoration.

Check out these photos. Keeping my own car in mind (it is almost the same color), one of the thoughts that crossed my mind is how great of a job the folks at ERA have done WRT accuracy...

You say "last" Cobra? The data tag is the LA tag, not the Thames Ditton tag. What is the CSX number?

I guess it isn't the one I saw on the rotisserie last time, but anyway:
1967 Shelby 427 Cobra- The Last Cobra

Anyone know the paint code, or Ford color name of this car.

What does 4015 on the windshield mean? Could that be a continuation car?

It's the Canepa number. This car is an original, not a continuation.

In Lippy's first picture, are original car KO wheel pins socket head/threaded in like that? Guess I never paid attention to that detail before - I figured they were probably pressed in studs.

Great car! On the Canepa site that Lippy provided there are some great pics as well. One thing I noticed on his site pics is that I can't see the brake / clutch fluid cans usually on the driver's side fender wall in the engine compartment. Did they put them somewhere else on the street cars?

As far as color, it looks like some form of "Tuxedo Black" to me.

According to the Canepa site, it is number thirty-three-sixty. According to the Registry, it was originally painted Rangoon Red.

That's the storied car that was copied by Autokraft and issued the same CSX number which caused some drama. At least that's what the Registry says....

Does anyone know when Shelby American started with the Los Angeles (snake) data tags? I thought they were issued on Shelby Mustangs only.

I thought it was black in the first pics. Then on the Canepa site I thought I noticed the dark blue that Lippy mentioned. That's a really dark blue!
I suppose Bruce Canepa could answer the color question best....

I asked Bruce about the color when I was building my car. He said it was a custom mix and not a standard blue.

That doesn't make any sense. Maybe he was just deflecting the question, as it would be next to impossible to match the paint (in the event of an accident) if you didn't have the recipe.
As for CSX 3360, the journal says only it was delivered 'blue over black'.

Interesting. Page 639 of the Registry gives a whole page to the car and represents is as originally red with black interior. It also provides quite a story about it being somewhat "flattened" when a roof collapsed on it due to snow load. Regardless, a beautiful and significant car for sure!

The reservoirs are an integral part of brake and clutch master cylinders on street cars
