So, where is this post in the classifieds?

We already know it's a 351C car, the car was built in 1982, for Karl Baughman, and is #3012, and that it came with a hardtop and soft top, but without the actual frame for the soft top, but what about a real ad?

No tease guys. I was going to put it on cobra country, but I thought someone might be interested here. I will do my best to put in the classifieds today. I'm not computer savvy so I might be asking for help.

Me too... I like to address this in one of two ways:

1. Ignoring the add altogether.

or If I'm keen:

2. By making offensively low offers and counter offers.

PS: to the OP Good luck with the sale.

If you're going to put it in Cobra Country they will make you put a price on it. Might just as well put a number here too.

If you want larger pictures in the post, upload some to a hosting site such as Photo Bucket and then link them here to your posts. I agree that seeing the pictures in the posts has way more effect than just reading about the car.

Yup, the worst thing you can do is make people chase you for the basics.

Engine specs
front and rear suspension specs
options (heater, wiper, a top or tonneau cover)

and of course

an asking price

Ads missing those things generally get briefly looked over, then thrown to the side and not considered by most buyers. My own tracking of such things leaves this one at a 20% chance over an ad that has the listed items above. 20% in this case that will overlook the ad as there are several other Contemporary cobras for sale with FE drivetrains across the country.

Yep, there should be a rule: all classified ads require a price. That's how it is on my other forums, and it makes sense for all parties.

Thanks to all who wished me good luck and to you Ron for the advice on the pictures. I do have a file with 40+ pictures I can send to anyone who's interested, just send me an email or call.

Now to the rest of you. Thanks for all your comments and advice, as this is my first time selling a Cobra. That being said, this isn't my first rodeo selling collectible cars and antique Harley Davidsons on the internet. I've sold dozens all over the world (73 to be exact). In my humble opinion the ad has all the basics and information a serious buyer needs. I believe you all know what the car is worth, and so do I. The ad reads best offer, what is it you don't understand about that. Man up, make me an offer, you can afford the car or you can't, simple as that. If your truly serious about the car you would have sent me an email or called. I would never sell a car without speaking with the buyer in the first place. And you wouldn't buy a car without speaking with the seller. I suspect your all just tire kickers with big egos who like to inflate them by trying to convince other people how smart or clever you are by posting nonsense and useless information.

ps. I like to stir the pot now and then too

Are the team stripes and the sponsor decals vinyl/peel off? or are they permanent?

Where is the car located?

How "new" is the new engine? How many miles since it was installed?

Well actually- Until your car sells, no one "knows" what it is worth. Until then, everyone has a personal opinion about what they think your car is worth.

And opinions? Well, we all know about those...

Personally, when I see "best offer" in an ad, I instinctively think "Silent auction" - Here's a guy that wants to pull a list of bids together, so he can play them off each other and try to hand pick his buyer.

However, (and I'm speaking from personal experience here)- By and large, the greatest majority of Cobra replica buyers out there are guys looking for their FIRST Cobra; and to the greatest majority of them, the technical intricacies of a Contemporary, versus an ERA, versus an SPF, versus a Unique are going to be complete non-factors in their decision whether or not to buy a particular car.

To some guys, the fact that your car is a Contemporary might be less important than the fact that it is a 30 year old used car...

BTW- One thing about your car I do like is that it has a small block, which is much better suited and balanced with the Jag running gear (IMHO

And, just for disclosure, I'm not a potential buyer myself, but I am helping and scouting for a friend/co-worker who has been looking recently, and he is definitely a "blue with white stripes" kinda guy, so I passed your ad along to him this morning...

Sad, and pretty much true. I wish more legitimate Cobra buyers were better informed these days on the differences.
