Hi Luke. If you are looking for electric power steering. The Suzuki vitara, swift and barina have an electric power steer unit. These cars are in Australia. Not sure what names they use for the models in the US. Some of the rally, Porsche cup and street rod guys use these in OZ.
Once you have a comfy seat. I would also look at your suspension. Some guys lower cars that far they are hard on the bump stops. The Cobra I bought was built no bump stops. The manufacturer fits really stiff springs to make up for the lack of bump stops.
If you can do your own mechanics. Measure from the centre of the rim to the top edge of the mudguard at ride height.
Then jack your car up. Place on stands.
Remove the springs off the coil overs. Reconnect the coilover without the spring.
Jack up wheel till it matches the ride height you measured earlier.
Now jack up the wheel further until it stops moving. Stop jacking right there. Remeasure the guard to centre of rim.
The difference between the ride height and the suspension bottomed measurement is your bump travel.
Check to see what is limiting the travel. Hopefully it is a bump stop. Not Shock bottomed out, drive shaft hitting chassis like my cobra. GGGGRRRR bad design.
I recently worked on an old stingray that had less than 20mm bump travel.Rough jarring ride. It banged in the back really badly.
50mm is a nice minimum bump travel.
If you have a decent amount of bump travel. Yo may be able to fit a softer spring.
I'm not sure what make Cobra yours is.
Maybe check with the other guys on here with the same make of Cobra what springs they have in their cars.
The previous owner may have liked a stiff ride.
I hope this helps.
Any questions re suspension. Just ask and I will see if I can answer them for you.
I hope you get to enjoy your cobra.
All the best
Bender
