Default What do you use to clean the exhaust?

So last night I cleaned my rims and exhaust for the first time. I used plenty of water and soap for the rims and then hand dried them and they came out perfect. I then went to use the same technique on the passenger side exhaust which was fully cool and when i went to dry it there were lots of droplet marks everywhere so I stopped and didnt do the other side. Can anyone tell me what technique or special cleaner/polish they use. Thanks

I don't know what your exhaust pipes are made of, but when I had mine I went to the local motorcycle shop and got some stuff they used to clean their exhausts and it worked great. I don't even remember what it was called but there are several things that I am sure would work just as well.

They are not powder coated, they are chrome and have turned a gold color which actually looks pretty good. I bought something for my old 1977 GS 750 for the exhaust called BLUEJOB lol. I still have the unopened container that cost $14 about 15 years ago, yikes!!

Just bought this and have not tried it yet:

You can use any billet polish. Your pipes are stainless steel, not chrome like your wheels.

Go to a cycle shop or ebay and buy some S100 cycle wash. Spray on cool..hose off...if you have a compressor blow dry, if not microfiber towel.....done. Zero spots.

I would try a spray detailer to clean. If it is discolored from exhaust carbon, I use enamel reducer, then follow with spray detailer. This comes for 20 yrs of exhaust discoloration on a Big Healey rear bumper. One of the guys in our club wore thru the chrome down to the nickel repeatedly using abrasive chrome cleaners, so I stay away from anything that has abrasives in it.

My side pipes are polished stainless steel. I use Sprayway glass cleaner on them, it works great. You can get it at Walmart or Home Depot.

I ordered it from Walmart and will pick up tomorrow, for $2.53 it is worth a shot and if it doesnt work well then i will use it on the glass and then try the much more expensive billet shines. I will update the thread after i try it. Thank you all for the responses. I love my car, its baddass like all the cobras here.

So I used the Spraywall glass cleaner and it did a good job, very easy to use and no spots left behind. For the price it is fine and i will try it on the side vents once they are dirty enough. I probably will buy the expensive stuff so I can compare the 2 just for curiosity, once I do I will post my findings here.

I would give a second to the S100 motorcycle cleaner. Has worked great cleaning my motorcycles for years.
