Now that picture raises more questions....is that Elvis, and what's the marshal doing with the fuel filler?

That's no marshal. Judging by the hat, Direction générale de la sécurité extérieure, DGSE (French equivalent of CIA).

Don't know who the guys in the picture are but that building in the background sure looks like the old Ford experimental garage that was located at the Dearborn proving ground facility. My father was a engineer with Ford and things were not a secure in those days. I was able to visit this amazing facility as a kid. Lots of NASCAR, road racing and drag racing FE motor development stuff. Remember watching the the endurance engine testing for the Indy car effort. Motor screaming wide open on the dyno and the headers glowing cherry red. At the time I really had no idea how special it was to able to see these things.
