Default TKO 600 Question

I was under my car the other day doing some cleaning and felt on top of the TKO 600 and there is this piece on the top of the tranny in front of the forward plate. It's a loose piece and spins freely. What exactly is this piece?

I included a a picture of a TKO 600 and it's the piece in front of the gold colored top plate down by the sharpie numbers .

That's the vent. It wiggles, and feels like it's loose, but it's not.

Looks like a transmission breather.

Just don't jam it shut. Every now and then, on crappy installations, that vent gets mashed up on some part of the tunnel, which can cause over-pressurization, which results in those pesky puddles under the car's transmission.

Thanks.... I figured that it was a vent of some sort but wasn't 100% sure.
