Default Miata seats for cobra

I understand Miata seats will fit in a Cobra and are comfortable. Anyone out there using these seats? If so, I sure would like to know what year Miata they came out of and the measurements so I can verify they will fill in my Midstates. Maybe a photo or 2 would be great as well.

I think the Miata seats have a lot of interchange. Nice seats, simple to mount and weigh just at 30#. a few ounces more for leather.

The guys on the Miata forum that I visit seem to like the seats from a Lotus. My ERA Cobra seats are way more comfortable than my leather Katskin-covered seats in my 1991 Monster Miata.

Any chance your Miata seats are knackered out?

I think the Miata seats can look and feel very good, the only downside I'm aware of, is I've heard guys complain about using their 4 or 5-point harness with them. The Miata seats do not have provisions and cause the shoulder belts to sit very wide or uncomfortable.

Are you interested in looks, comfort, or performance? (hard to get all 3)

If you are interested in performance, I installed Ultrashield Rally Sport Seats in mine and added a little padding. They are comfortable and great for support and neck restraint. (not as goodlooking as I would like, but not bad, also easy to add seat heaters!)

They also make a Spec Miata seat without the wings, but still has the harness slots.

No. I replaced the foam when I installed the new covers.

Which seats did you use? The site shows several.

Looks like they've changed/improved them a little as well, since I installed mine.

They also have a new low-back, I saw them installed in a new build last weekend. They look great, but may not be on their website yet. I'd call them.

Default I have Kirkey racing seats (with harness) and lot of extra foam--

I removed the seats . Added foam everywhere, soft foam, firm foam, whatever felt right. The side panels, lumbar, I made the seats fit me.. The foam cuts and shapes really easy with an electric carving knife ..

I'v used two different Ultrashield seats. The road racing seat (not the same as the Rally Sport) is more comfortable on long trips. It's easily a 3-4 hour seat.

But the spec Miata seat is better on the race track. For me, it provided much better lateral support. It's still pretty comfortable, though.
