SPF oil filter mount plumbing

Hi
I'm in the process of doing the routing for a Canton oil cooler thermostat: the filter mount has arrows showing an in and out on both sides, the line with oil in goes to one side and the oil out of the filter to the cooler is on the oppposite side.

Is there any reason that both lines couldn't be on the same side? Routing will be easier that way...
