Default Appraisal Help

Hello, I'm an auto appraiser looking for some assistance and opinions on fair market value. There is little sales data since this is a limited production car with a niche market. The car is part of an estate and the family knows very little about its history.

1986 Autokraft AC Cobra MKIV
Engine No. 1139
Serial No. AK1139
Miles- 11,154

Anything you can tell me about this car would be greatly appreciated.
Value range?
Engine Type?
Body material?
Strength of demand?

Thank you!!!

Value Range: $93.5K - $172K https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuati.../1985-AC-Mk_IV

Information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Cars#Autokraft_era

Review: https://www.topspeed.com/cars/ac-car...-ar129167.html

Engine type: Ford V8 - probably a 351 Windsor small block

Body material: Aluminum

Demand: A very good question. RM Auctions sold an excellent example for $170,500 in 2012. https://blog.rmsothebys.com/en/aucti...v-cobra/283599

AC Owners Club Forum - thread on MK IV prices. The most recent post was in 2012: https://www.acownersclub.co.uk/forum...p?topic=1941.0

That car will be a 302. I was the importer for Autokraft.

You may contact me for information.

Interior condition?
Exterior condition?
Drivetrain condition and originality?
Suspension originality and condition?
Documentation?
Does it have it's original top and side curtains? Their condition?
Did I mention originality
Original paint?
Accident free?
Interior/exterior color combination?

As an appraiser, you should be mentioning whether you are doing an appraisal for insurance purposes, or for a current market appraisal? You do realize the implications of the differdnce between the two, right?

Then again, as an appraiser, you should be giving out the above information and more if you want a truly qualified response from those who follow the market for these cars

Edit: Did I mention AK1139 should be Mercedes Red. Black Leather/Black tonneau. 302 HO small block Ford wth Holley carb. Borg Warner T5. Transmission.

Bill,

The OP spoke to me regarding the car as I thought I may have sold it new (I didn't) and I provided him some information that was useful. The car may be available in the future.

That is what I figured when he made his first post on the forum
