Wow.. that's a beautiful Cobra you have there John. What fuel are you running for those numbers? Do you have any pictures of your cars suspension? I know the e46 M3 suspension/drive line is stout.. is that what's in there?

My M3 is currently in Rahway NJ for some love. I was going to have it shipped back to me, but maybe I'll picked it up and head over to you one day!

thanks! What shop is working on your car? I'd be happy to make my way out towards Rahway to meet up when your M3 is all buttoned up.

If I'm going to be in boost for long periods of time, including while racing, I'll use straight MS109. If I'm just cruising around, going to work, etc., I'll use mostly 93 with some MS109 mixed in. Lund Racing did the race tune.

Looks like you have an e36 M3 set up from the 95 to 99 3 series. Appears you have a 188 mm ring gear/diff in there. I'm on a turbo BMW forum and a lot guys have problems (even with the DSS stuff) on that size differential. Need to step up to the older seven series differential. (Big bucks, especially if Dan from Diffsonline gets you one. =) Have you broken another stub or just the one so far?

I wonder if Backdraft has moved to the e46 (2001-2006 M3) set up. Everything is stronger. My 425wtq BMW is running stuff from the e36/e30 generation. My 545wtq car is using the e46 M3 rear without any issues.

Just the one stub - DSS finally got the measurements correct and all has been good since then. Took a little while though. I'm not sure about the ring gear / diff info. We'll see how well the Diffsonline differential that's in there holds up.

How does a 1997 Superformance Cobra compare to a 2010 Superformance Compare as far as build quality goes. I'm sorry if I'm asking simple questions, but haven't found there to be much difference other than the updated rear shock mount.

Somewhere around build #600 or so, they started offering a dropped driver's footwell as standard (great for taller drivers) and Wilwood calipers. A 2010 would also most likely have a different 3rd member IRS (not the Ford Thunderbird 8.8). There were also subtle changes to the crown of the front cowl, so a windscreen from a '97 build may not fit a 2010 build.

Quality? Every bit as good or better. Some parts, i.e. the diff, calipers, etc. may have changed brand, but the build quality will be high. You need to understand that Jim Price is walking the factory floor and woe to the employee who does not hold to his standards.

On a Cobra you must remember the tires are the weak link. Unless your running 200 treat wear tires or slicks. Street Cobras weight between 2100 and 2800 lbs.
The driveshaft, third member and tranny will handle a lot more torque than it's rated for because of the tires.

I understand that well Dwight. When I put race gas in my 2800 lb car and crank up the boost, it has over 500 wtq and can run a 10.9 @ 135 mph. Just need a nice Mickey Thompson on it. =) I've had to beef up the rear of that car though to hold it all together! I have a couple hundred passes on that car now and drive it to/from the track without worry.

Just wondering if anyone has a similar experience with a quick Cobra and an 8.8 rear. I don't really know. From the little research I've done, I might be sourcing Mustang Cobra parts for it..

8.8 is strong and there are many aftermarket upgrade parts available that the boost juice Mustang guys use.

8.8 is a lot stronger than most think. Think of the IRS Stangs with a manual running 8s. that's over 1000 hp
