Default New Member looking at used Cobra

Greetings from a new member. Belong to many forums but looking at my first Cobra and need a bit on insight.

Looking at Superformance MKIII with a chassis number 639 in front cross member and hood hinges. Can anyone tell me year?

Also what should I be looking at in a car with 8000 miles on it. Obvious items I know but what Cobra Specific items?

Welcome to the maddness....
Your are looking at a car which was built in 1999 most likely. Mileage looks extremely low so I would expect minimal driving related damage from rocks, etc. I would guess the tires are original to the car and if so, proceed with caution driving it on to a trailer to get it home. Look under the dash for signs of any home-made modifications to wiring. Ask about any replacemet (on time)?to brake pads, coolant replacement, age of battery, etc. inspect the top and side curtains for storage damage. But important to “drive” the car. Who did the engine and installation. Is paperwork available? Original tires MUST be replaced ASAP. Also there is safety modification that should be inspected (at minimum) for the rear shock mounts. Service records would be nice to have if available.,feel free to contact me directly with any questions... Blas

Thanks for the info. Hoping to see it this week. I will look at all those things. Do you know the tire sizes so I can price out ahead of time for negotiations?

Most commonly used on a MK III with 15": 255/60 F (some like 245/60s on front), 295/50 R. Look at Mickey Thompson S/T tires, good performance and reasonably priced. Best 15" tire is Avon CR6ZZ, about $1600 a set but way above any other 15" on a Cobra.
