I think I am getting old and grumpy. If it was presented as a concept car of something modern that borrowed some DNA from a Cobra, it would set better with me. As a modern car, it is neat. I like it. I would like it better with slightly less Cobra DNA.

Why do anything to the Cobra body? It was already perfect! It's like the most beautiful woman in the world letting a plastic surgeon ruin her looks.

Why bother to put a 400 Hp V10 in a Cobra and make it sound like crap? You can make more Hp out of a small block or FE, and it will sound so good you have to try, to not pop a nut.

All opining aside, it is beautifully done with skill.

I am definitely old and grumpy but I do like the car. I find the treatment of the instruments in the dash unique. Thanks for posting the pictures!

I'm sorry, more cylinders equals more power potential. It's the law of physics.

Not necessarily- Cubic inches may equal more power potential, but these V10's are I believe in the 400 cubic inch area or a bit more. So potential is about the same as a stroked small block, or on par with a 427 side oiler, etc....

But of all the V-10's I've ever heard - none of them sounded as good as a healthy V-8.... IMO

The 4.6 Ltr modular could make serious power normally aspirated, with the 4 valve heads. All that was needed was a good cam profile. The 5.4 (which is a very long stroke version of the 4.6), didn't seem to enjoy as much use as a performance engine. Ford did put it in a few cars and supercharged them, like the GT. It should be able to be used, as the heads do interchange with the 4.6, but the thing is just too huge to easily fit in anything.

The V10 is the 5.4 with two more cylinders. It is a truck engine and I didn't follow it much. No aluminum block versions that I am aware of. I suspect it received the 2 valve heads, as that would be a better head for low end torque. I doubt Ford made a 4 valve head for it. Possibly the 3 valve went on them. If there is a 3 valve head, you might have a shot at serious power. The 2 valve heads could make some power N/A if someone was willing to work at it. It would be much easier to go forced induction.

So if desired, serious power could be made with the V10. I still would have stayed with a SB Windsor. If I was going to work with stuffing an over-sized heavy engine in it, I would have gone to a 385 series (460 stroked to 532). The 385 will make more Hp/$ spent than just about anything else Ford ever made.

I do applaud those who do something different, rather than follow the crowd.

Yes, same V-10 engine in my Ford F-550 bucket truck. You'd be surprised how many people are in awe when I pop the hood at local cruise-ins ! The engine revs like a F1 !

No worries about this one carrying on the great Cobra name. It's a 15 year old Concept car. Way too ugly to have the name Cobra on it Cheers Tom. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Shelby_Cobra_Concept

Smurf: This is the actual Ford concept "new" Cobra, code name "Daisy" ???
They have kit car versions of it in Australia .
Congrats on snagging it. I was hoping that Ford would push forward with it.

Ed,

Glad to hear you're still kicking! At least you haven't frozen to death yet up there in the extreme north

We're in Florida now and loving it.

Continued better health to you!

DV, glad to hear from you! The real surprise is "YOU HAVE A HEART", LOL!

Got really nervous when you were quiet for sooo long!

I fell about 8 yrs ago and broke the femur off the ball of my hip! They pinned it back together. Fast forward 5 yrs and the hip joint failed due to loss of blood flow to the joint. So, back for a replacement. 3 yrs now and I keep getting more use of the hip by pushing thru its stiffness. Do follow the PT as they direct- makes a huge difference in hip recovery!

you made me think for a couple.....nope this year, it did start 10-30 18 and continued on until now.

One good thing about all this, having a non stop Migraine for over six days in the hospital, a Nurse finally asked me what was wrong besides the obvious?I told her my migraines (since I was 13), were actually firing up again. She asked me if I would be willing to see a Neurosurgeon? I told he "no thanks". I'd seen at least 3 already and numerous MD's. She convinced me this guy was a Migraine specialist. OK,...people with these damned things will do just anything to relieve or get rid of them!! did see him yesterday. Seems they have just about given up trying to cure them, besides all the normal ways, BUT now it seems like they have found a way to keep them from starting at all!

Stay tuned.I'll let you know my results. ?

Gary, et al;
OK..DV. Get it right!
Halloween weekend, fell, 2018, November 2018, CPR, cardiac arrest,5 broken ribs. One day prior to Turkey day released from the hospital. December 2018 re-admitted for emergency blood infusion--Two Units whole blood. Bleeding internally! Couldn't figure out why, where! Finally took a video, internally of my stomach. Showed good shape. NO ulcers, nothing out of the norm, but the DVD,Video did show a stalactite type structure hanging down from the top/inside of my stomach and it had blood dripping from it! (I got to watch it!). They put a single stitch around the bottom and no more lost blood.
OUT & back in again!
Sometime along this Journey My Dr. ran a stress test and decided a by-pass was in order Ultimately FOUR!

Now, being up to date, July 2019, feeling fine, 71st birthday, moving around as well can be expected. ME... 71! "If I only had ONE more Cobra to build!?"

Holy you know what! Hearing your story make me fell good about breaking my back and hip in the mojave and had to be, air lifted out. I have stopped telling people this story because I have recovered so well that, I get the feeling people think I am lying . Took me 6 months to walk now a year and a half latter can do pretty much anything I want.funny thing is if I sit around I start to hurt so I try to stay buzzy.

Glad to hear you are on the mend.

I've had both hips replaced and partials on both knees. I am doing well. I get stiff if I sit for an hour though but once stretched out I am fine.

As far as hips and knees go my recommendation is to do it when the pain impairs your ability to stay fit, don't wait until you are invalidated. Then get right back to your favorite form of exercise. For me that is swimming.

I'm 70. Besides the ones noted above I have had rotator cuff, cataracts, hernia and prostrate reduction. Only my left hip done at age 68, hurts more than it should I think. All the other stuff is working as advertised and in most cases as good or better than original equipment. If I were a car I would be a rat rod as all the important stuff has been repaired whenever it fails but I still look 70 on the outside.
