'49 Mercury with 427 side oiler. $25,000. The car is frenched, shaved, and not chopped. Is maroon, clear coated with ghost flames in the front. No interior, has an old chevy 2 bench seat for driving. Front windshield only. I have an electric window lift kit not installed. i have a Painless wiring kit not installed. I have the 2 push out rear window frames. I have most of the chrome window trim. I have the 3 piece rear window with rubber gasket.
The car runs and drives. It is registered and insured. I've put about 200 miles on it in the last 6 months. I bought it as is in 2008 for the motor. I planed to remove the motor and put it in my Cobra. Put a 390 back in the Mercury and sell it. Plans have changed and I am selling it as is. I know nothing about the motor. I have verified it is a 1968 side oiler, block C8AE-A with external bumps on the side of the block for
oil passages. Screw in freeze plugs and set screw caping the
oil passage on left front at
oil filter mount. Built in the late 90's by Don Canepa of Watsonville, CA. Not Bruce Canepa. Don passed away a couple of years ago. Heads have Id C8OE, date 8K7. Has a Holley 750 double pumper, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, and ceramic coated headers. I know nothing about the internals. I do not know the bore and stroke. Idling it has a good lope.
The car has a Flaming River steering rack and column. A new automatic transmission from Summit Racing. I don't know what model. A 9" rear end with I think 3.50 gears and coil overs and 4 link. Has Mickey Thompson Sportsman 31x18.5x15LT in back on aluminum Cragers. Body has been tubbed. Has a Howe Aluminum radiator and electric fan. Has a DUI distributor. Roof has damage from box falling out of attic, I am posting the car here because of the motor. More photos in my Photo Gallery, album '49 mercury.
I can take more pictures if needed. Tom
