What kind of heat are you running for your garage for your cobra?

Looking to add some propane heat to my 32x24x9 well insulated garage. Garage is made out of 2x6's. I have 5 windows,1 man door and 3 garage doors. I use the garage mostly for storage but want to add heat to work in there on weekends. No not looking to keep the cobra warm all the time .Been doing a little research and I am now thinking about OPTION 1.... Something like a Payne house furnace for the money .A 60,000 or 80,000 BTU unit.I would still need venting, duct work, gas line and filter box. This furnace achieves up to 92.1% AFUE.I would like to mount this unit horizontal up in the air to save space.My only concern is the condensation trap freezing when not in use.I would think also that these units are fairly quiet.

OPTION #2 is a Mr. Heater Big Maxx or Hot Dawg hanging unit which this unit I heard is ver noisy. Maybe like a 60,000 BTU unit.

Wondering if you have a garage with heat what type of heat are you using?

Definitely a hanging unit. Watch eBay and craigslist, on occasion they go very cheap. For my last garage, I picked one up at an estate sale, 250,000 btu, nd yes I did throttle it down, for $25. Deal of the century. For my new garage I picked up a brand new Dayton hanging furnace for very reasonable

Yes I was thinking about the same for me. How loud are those Hot Dawgs? I heard they are very loud when they are cranking. I heard that the Mr Heater Big Maxx's are quieter.

I got an apartment sized unit about 10-12 years ago when there was a switch to higher efficiency units. Had it installed in a corner ducted to the ceiling. Then a small fan to distribute the heat. I keep the garage at about 50 degrees, no condensation and it heats up fast when needed. 2-car sized garage. I'm please with the system. I think it cost $250-300 installed on a friends and family plan.

Mr. Heater Big Buddy. The one with the internal circulation fan. Very pleased with it and it’s safe for indoor use if ever needed too. Goes thru the small 1lb tanks like a girlfriend does in Las Vegas with your money, but got the adapter to use an 18lb tank and it’s then very economical to run. I like the fact that it has a built-in o2 sensor that shuts the unit off before “you shut off”, and a tip-over shut-off.

When it cycles you know it is on, I wouldn't call it excessive Doesn't stay on long if you maintain a constant temp.
I keep it at 50 and turn up to 60/65 when I am working out there.

I use a hanging unit however electric as I only use heat when I am in it.

I installed a 220v hanging electric unit with a wall mounted thermostat. Only use it when I work in the winter. The big difference in garage temperature came when I insulated it and that includes insulating the garage doors. Never gets below 45 even when it is zero outside.

Running this one now.It heats but not the quickest.I think the fan is not the large which is a little bit of the issue. Looking for a little more high heat a little faster for garage projects. FYI the garage I am talking about is in PA also.A little colder than NJ.

I have a floor setup in my garage to provide heat in the slabs from tubes. There is also rigid insulation below the concrete. Unfortunately I have not yet gotten a heat source up and running for it. I have been thinking lately this would be a good time. I am going to investigate a gas fired tankless unit.

Used same as house system, works just like house. Gets to hot ,turn on air, gets to cold turn on heat.

Mitsubishi mini-split for heat and A/C. One unit on the 1st floor and one unit on the 2nd floor (two story garage). I can control it with my phone or iPad from anywhere or on a hand held controller In the garage. Very efficient units.

I have a Mitsubishi mini-split heat pump in a 22 by 25 detached garage. The garage is insulated with expanded foam, and I leave the unit on 24/7. The electricity cost averages $14 per month. In Texas, the AC is more important than the heat.
