Default I have seen some bad looking rollbars, but this one..

takes the cake. I can only assume somebody is doing some real racing?

Looks like exhaust pipe tubing at the slip joint.

MAYBE better than nothing?

I think they were looking to replicate this one on CSX3178 but got the proportions a smidgen off.

I seriously doubt that. It looks like mild steel pipe, which would easily crumple on impact.
