Default SW fuel pressure gauge how much?

Any learned opinions on what you should pay for a 2⅝" Stewart Warner 0-10psi fuel pressure gauge?
This one needs refurbishing...

Look on Amazon, Summit or Jegs. They will be pennies apart. I bought one for water temp from Summit. Don't remember the cost but wasn't much.

Does that have a capillary tube and bulb like my mechanical temp gauges? Or does it do it like my mechanical oil pressure gauge?

Tim, these SW fuel pressure gauges were used on Comp. 289's; I don't think they have been available new since maybe the 1970's

Pat, originally it would have a similar setup to a "mechanical" oil pressure gauge, with fuel all the way to the gauge.
It is now of course recognised as too dangerous to have a tube with high octane in it piped through to the back of the dash. Hence, present day fit would use an isolator mounted on/near the firewall, with - I think - water used from the isolator to the gauge.

Isolator would look something like this, with fuel to one side of the diaphragm and water from the other side to the gauge. Could be wrong about the water, but it would be something that obviously is not flammable Name: Fuel pressure isolator.jpg

OK, that makes sense. I just hate fuel leaks. Especially if they're dripping on my knee.

I would just get it refurbished. There are multiple companies that refurbish gauges/ dashes. Unless you can find one already refurbished. If you buy another used one, it may the same or worse condition than yours.

From Autometer's instructions for fuel pressure with isolator:

NOTE: Fluid leaking from system will cause gauge to read incorrectly. If leakage
occurs, fill isolator with solution of half water, half propylene glycol (antifreeze).

My estimate is that rebuilding it (and shipping) will cost you more than a new one. Unless you're looking for authenticity, in which case you just want to leave it alone.

I guess for true authenticity, it needs to leak a little bit.

These particular gauges have not been available new for decades. I have used one for years without issue.
