Is there a classifieds section? I've loved these cars forever and am finally ready to get serious about buying one. Where is the best place to find these for sale? There seems to be a lot of scams on most web sites. Also maybe you guys can tell me if I'm being realistic. I've got my Chevelle listed for sale, I've been getting a lot of interest. I'm asking 13.5k for it. Is it realistic that I could find a cobra replica for around the same price? Thanks!

Do some research here and ask a few questions. There is a huge variety in quality, authenticity, specifications, equipment, reputation and value among the many brands of replicas that have been produced over the years.

There is also a for sale section on this website. Anything that you find for around $13K will be either an unfinished kit or a piece of junk. Even the unfinished kit will be questionable at that price. Although, given the current state of the economy you might find a deal from someone who is desperate and needs the cash and is willing to take a huge loss.

Financing one probably not a bad idea as good replicas seem to hold value pretty well...Plus if you spend years saving for one, well you've spent years without a Cobra...

To reiterate, the quality of stuff exponentially decreases as the price goes down. At 13K you're looking at a 20 year old incomplete kit that is missing another 13K of parts.

Honestly, if that's all you've got you need to look for something different.

The typical name brand Cobra is going to be in the 80-100K range before you're done. Well built Superformance will be north of that. Shelby CSX can go for 150K or more.

The wisdom of financing Cobras has also been discussed. It's a toy in the same category as a boat. In most parts of the country you'll only drive it on weekends (and not all) during the summer. It's not a grocery getter. You shouldn't go into debt to buy one. Leveraging is a different story - if you have the cash to purchase and can get a better interest rate on borrowing than the return on an investment of that cash then by all means borrow.

To add to this post, 13K, will get you nothing but trouble, even if you find anything at that price. I keep my fingers on the pulse, of the used Cobras market, 30K will get you (Even in this day & age) a driver, and not much more. A well built Cobra, with some mileage, ask why? Low mileage Cobras are another whole can of worm's, we can tell you why those just are bad as ones that have been driven hard and put away wet. It has to do with Gasket's, seal's, etc. Those things dry out when not used. Look to spend a min. of 50K for a good car. Good Luck with whatever you decide. Cheers TommyRot

For your price point, you can find a Cobra project for sale that will eventually cost you heartache and $50,000 to finish, if you can find all the parts for the kit that has not been produced for over 20 years. Save your hard earned money for the next several years on top of what you can sell your car for and wait for the right car to present itself, do not allow yourself to get sucked in to a car that is "too good to be true".

Do not forget you are in the age of COVI 19 and closures, temp and permanent. I have a car and can not get manufactures to answer phone ,email or send brochures and parts catalogs. If you care about what is being done to your car you will be looking for specific parts. Buying some else project or finished car will give you hours or planning, changing, enhancing, until you or the car are gone so many choices, prices , different tastes and problems. I say these cars are never done but you do reach a point where you slow down and live with what you have until you don't.
