Default 8.8 IRS axle seal?

Drivers side appears to be leaking diff fluid...anyone have experience with this? Part sourcing? Tips and tricks? I have replaced axles so i don't need help with that...Just the seal itself.

Worried that my diff may have gone low on fluid though...

It's a pretty standard part. You need a seal for a Thunderbird Super Coupe. Last time I bought one, it was on the shelf at Autozone.

I'll check that out, but sure dont want to go through all that work to install some POS chinese part...

Default Got it out

Really didn't look bad to my un-trained eye..but the fluid leaks tell the story i guess. Funny part was all the ways i tried to get the seal out without buggering anything up in the pretty tight space between the diff and frame...what finally worked perfect was the old claw hammer which fit perfect and easily pulled the seal out drama free.

Now just waiting for the new seal that should be here today...

Wife asked me what the new weird smell was in the garage...man that diff fluid is stinky!

A tip we use for pulling lip seals on turbine engines is to drill the seal in the center of the metal rim with a #40 bit. We use drillstops to prevent dinging the underlying flange. Thread a drywall screw (hardened steel) into the seal and pryout with pair of Diagonal cutter pliers.

Default Pulling seals

I tried all kinds of combinations of things trying hard not to slip and bugger the bearing just inside...what worked like a charm was simply a small claw hammer, popped it right out.

I used another tool i have to press in suspension bushes to tap the new one in evenly.

Its all dry as a pop corn fart now...

Now the problem is replacing those damned bushings between the pin and A Arms which Hillbank actually has in stock! I ordered 12...

Seems like every repair on this thing results in a secondary repair of something else...Oh well keeps me off the streets at night...
