Ok looks like it will drop in. Fyi the rail breaks somewhere between 4th and 5th never made it to 5th until slowing down fiddling with the gears and clutch then it gets stuck in 5th .

One more thing just came to mind, if not using your clutch to shift is abusing your transmission, then I guess their are a lot of big rig drivers abusing their transmissions .

If not using your clutch makes your day, then by all means you should stop using your clutch.

Informative thread on a range of related topics, but I'm looking forward to hearing from someone who has actually installed a TKX and driven it around some...anyone?

Hello I’m new to the forum and currently have a BDR4B GT in the build process. It has the Iconic 427S in it and currently a T5 transmission. I have the option to upgrade to the TKX for $3500. Is it worth it? I see much if the discussion here is TKO, T-56 to TKX, so interested in what others who are more knowledgeable than me on this think? Thanks!

Here is a brand new 0.81 OD TKX from one of the largest Tremec dealers (they claim they are #1) for $2,795, click here => TKX 0.81 OD. What does the additional $705 buy you in the $3,500 deal you are looking at?

Lets revive this thread a bit,
I have the TKO600 with almost 8000 miles on it now, in two years. I now have a hell of a time getting back into 1st gear after driving a while and downshifting to a stop. It will slide right back into 1st as i'm coming to a stop (2-3 mph), but I have to keep my foot on the cutch and keep it in gear at a stop or it won't go back in from neutral if I let out the clutch in neutral and let the main shaft turn in neutral.
I thought the clutch MC and/or the Tilton internal HTOB was not releasing fully. I measured, even tried different size MCs; all the hydraulic clutch components are working correctly.
I eventually talked to Paul at Modern Driveline in Idaho, and he spent a few days with me helping diagnose it over the phone, try this and call back, try that and call back, etc. He came to the conclusion that the 5th gear "interlock"? was not resetting back to neutral. That it was a known flaw of the TKO600. There is a fix/upgrade or somesuch.
I dont have $3,000 to buy a new TKX when I spent almost as much for a TKO600 just a few years ago during my build.
So has anyone experienced this shifting back to 1st gear when stopped problem?
I first reported this back in September 2020, here:
TKO 600 Shifting-Had Enough Finally
