Halibrand Wheels or?
Hi, I'm new to this forum, and just purchased a Cobra (having so much fun with it). It came with these wheels and spinners, and I'm trying to figure out exactly what I have. Would someone be so kind as to help this newbie out! I was told they were original Halibrands, but I didn't "pay" for that story, but it certainly would be nice if I had more than some common reproductions here.

My $0.02
These look to be alloy thus not original which would be magnesium for sure.
The spinners are not stamped correctly from what I see thus also not original and I dont remember but Halibrand on each ear was also not right.
If you didn't pay for the story what does it matter?
Enjoy the car, looks like EM?

Most likely Trigo reproductions. Too "real" to be from Vintagewheelsus.com.

That's actually the reason I'm analyzing these wheels. In fact, they were installed incorrectly, and the part that the spinners go on (not sure of the name) was ruined in the process. It happened that one of my wheels actually started coming loose because some of the lugs were breaking. Anyway, I had to buy a whole new setup (wheels, spinners, and what I'll call the "lug" or whatever, and so I have these wheels and spinners and wanted to find out what they were, because I'll be selling them. Does anybody have a good idea of value? I'll post pics of the new wheels on the car.

From what you say, take them permanently out of service. Don't sell them to an unsuspecting owner or other for fear of a catastrophic failure.

They may still be usable. I need to know the number of pins, the backspacing and the hub depth (mounting surface to cone height).

Just a little FYI. If you get FIA wheels from vintage ........ they are TRIGO's. In fact they will be drop shipped from TriGo. Not sure of the cobra wheels from vintage.

Can anybody help me with a fair value? I want to sell these, since I have some new wheels now. I'm not looking to bilk anybody, just want to get a fair price. By the way, they weigh 20 pounds each (they are 8.5 and 10.5 width, but seem to weigh about the same). I think that means they may be Magnesium? Any help from more experienced people would be greatly appreciated.

Very likely aluminum Trigo wheels. New, about $1200/set.
Those are the closest to original Halibrands. Vintage Wheels are nice too, but they are actually too perfect (although only an obsessive would notice).
What are you going to replace them with? |

I already got a set of Vintage wheels from Bob Lacey. They pretty much look the same, but my old system had some serious mechanical issues with the part that connects the wheel to the axle.

Maybe a local guy in your area would like them?
Maybe clean them up? Being alloy cleaning them up might benefit your sale.

Why exactly did you have to replace them? Is one of them screwed up where the knock off comes in contact with the bevel? You made it sound like you had adaptors from bolt on wheels to knock off wheels. Most car having adaptors have 5 pin wheels. Your wheels are 7 1/2 and 9 1/2 wide. It would be nice if you could correctly measure the back spacing. Do you have pictures of your hubs and better pictures of the damage. All this would help on the price and possibly the sale of them.
