Default How To Download Or Archive A Thread

Question for the Admins:

Is there a way to download, archive or save a multi page thread as a PDF or similar type file?

I looked at the FAQ section and did some searches but so far have not found any matches.

Is this possible and if so what is the process?

Thank you.

Open up and use print to a pdf printer. You'll have to do each page separately. Note that forums have lots of panes and often don't print well

Good idea and I have tried that process, it does work. However, as you note it does not print well and it is a bit cumbersome.

Wondering if there is a more seamless process that is available?

You would need admin level access and load the appropriate plug in for Vbulletin

You can however select all and cut and paste in to a generic Excel spreadsheet, the cut and paste is not the cleanest due to the embedded side frames, but once you have the entire thread cut and paste in to the spreadsheet, you can clean up and remove the side frames as needed.

Hi Bill,

I don't have admin access and likely not talented enough to run Vbulletin. I will give the cut and paste method into a spreadsheet a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

With Firefox (and I suspect other browsers):
File:Save Page As: Save as HTML

It will save the page and (maybe) a folder with the external content.

Thanks for the tip and pointing me to a simple solution.

I use Safari and while trying the 'Print' command & saving as a PDF, or other methods that were equally unsuccessful, there was ultimately an even simpler solution, which was right in front of me the whole time.

In Safari:

- File
- Export as PDF

A pdf document of the entire page is created with all of the content and photos that is easy to scroll through.

Do that process for each page and there you go. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. Thanks to all that replied to help me figure this out.

Save the link to the specific thread.
Paste that on a page for reference.

That is a great way to have a quick link back to a thread and a good shortcut, thanks.

What I was after, is a way to scroll though a page of a thread, but offline and that is what can be done in Safari utilizing the Export as PDF feature.
