$8 a Gallon here
Well the taxes and oil giants are raking in the profits. Over $2 a liter or $8 a gallon now. Premium is pushing $9 a gallon

Navyeod and I took our cars for an 80 mile cruise around a local lake Friday. With Alabama gas prices nearing $4/gallon I estimate it cost me about $30. As I would rather do a hundred trips like that than one $3,000 3-day ship cruise, gas prices have not yet affected my hot rod hobby.

Most of Vegas broke $4/gal last week. But Costco and Sams are always 10-20c below broke $4 overnight (399 last night, 405 this morning) for regular 87 octane. (Both are members only here in Nevada, some states don't allow that...) The discount also disappeared - Sams/Costco are the same as their nearby competitors.

Here in the glorious republic of Kalifornia, we are at almost $6.00 a gallon for premium.

Well I have to agree with the taxes part, but as far as the Oil Giants raking in the profits I think I'll have to disagree. I blame our government, that stooge in the White House, and his paranoid Greenies in his administration pushing this global warming BS. His first day in office he killed the Keystone pipeline, Killed off the drilling on Federal land and has done nothing about the Ukraine situation. The WTI price on a gallon of crude is $118.00 a barrel as of today 3/6/2022 and going up. No, I blame the Stooge!

Electric cars are a joke! Where do you think power to charge them comes from?
Solar panels are built by what? More solar panels? Wind power is a great idea that is even more fuel costly. Where does the power to even build them come from? The electric car fad is a joke.

Seriously?!?! Electric cars are a joke??? Well, I'm not a rocket scientist (well, actually I am by occupation sort of) but with the rise in gas prices and the fact that we are now looking to spend around $100 to fill up our daily drivers, don't you think it makes economic sense to minimize the impact to your own wallet by considering a mode of transportation that will get you through this unknown period of rising gas prices?
My Ex got the Prius in the divorce settlement. I'm thinking of re-nogotiating the settlement.

Electric vehicles are like the old days of diesel. In the late 70s/early 80s we bought a diesel Mercedes because (1) Jimmy Carter's gas lines didn't affect diesel and (2) when gas then was going through price changes like this, diesel was .19/gal. That was because they didn't (at the time) collect tax at the pump - you filled up at truck stops.
So eventually the burden on the power grid will start to affect usage, infrastructure won't be able to handle 100 cars plugged in at once in a subdivision and will have to be upgraded, and the cost of electricity WILL GO UP FOR EVERYONE.
Secondly, the claim that electric vehicles reduce emissions is a boatload of crap. All it does is move the point of creation of that emissions from your tailpipe to the smokestack of a power plant in Wyoming. Nuclear is an answer but they won't do that. Hydro power too, but you won't see any valleys flooded any more. Wind and solar can't make enough.
And just like nuclear power rods, they are realizing that disposing of batteries is going to be an issue, but we won't worry about that now because the greenies have their heads in the sand.
I have no doubt that EVs make some level of sense. I'd consider one myself for pure city driving. I think the conversion of in-city commercial fleets to electric makes a lot of sense due to their limited range. The Ford electric pickup addresses a need for the trades that go to a job site and have to go fetch a piece of plywood from Home Depot. But until I can drive from Nevada to Colorado (800 miles) with two stops of 15 minutes, they're not on my wishlist. Farm planting season is just starting. Wait until the fall crop comes in and prices for carrots go to that of gold.
There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

Yeah, most of the green crowd thinks beef and pork grow on trees. They've never seen a farm. They have a total lack of understanding of the rural areas of the country and the distances involved. And no concept of big equipment, farm or construction. Yeah, lets make a battery D-9 Cat.

If I had known this thread was going to take a political turn, I'd have opened with something snarky about all the Putin lovers out there.

Premium at the local Costco is CAD $1.649 / litre, or CAD $6.24 / US gallon. Based upon current exchange rates, that's about USD $4.90 / US gallon.
I'd rather pay the premium prices and drive the Cobra than not drive the Cobra.
I have no doubt it will get worse before it gets better.
p.s. I'm hanging on to the idea that whatever extra I pay at the pumps will be reflected in higher dividends and prices for my energy investments. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

My Ukrainian flag is flying in front of my house, the F*(k Putin flag was just ordered on Amazon, and I'm thinking that a yellow wrap around the bottom half of my Spectre Blue BDR would be the icing on the cake (albeit really not a good look for a Cobra).
Cлава Yкраїнa!
Oh, and $5.45 for premium (91 octane) here in Santa Barbara, CA
