Yeah seemed like they're someone who is more familiar with building hot rods. I'm quite sure they're mechanically capable and probably do good work, but it's helpful having people familiar with the general period and region of the car to recognize potential other issues like Dan is mentioning with regards to the hydraulics.

Ya, what you all said. When he mentioned he was going to take a sawzall to the cross member I almost had a heart attack. Thankfully they were joking!

Without removing the interior and tunnel, there is no way that they will be able to rotate the differential down and slide the transmission back far enough to replace a clutch and pressure plate unless the 427's have a lot more room than the 289 cars.

I experienced just such a hatchet job on my friend's original 289 in the late sixties. We took his car to a muffler shop to replace the mufflers. When we came back, the mufflers that the "mechanic" tried to fit were too big, so he simply sawed pieces out of the frame! We were sick. Could not believe it, but it was too late.

Same car was later stolen so it may have ended up in an even worse state. My friend was able to purchase CSX 2372 thereafter with the insurance money.

Totally agree.
I wouldn't take a good replica Cobra to a truck hotrod shop for work, let alone an original 427
Incidentally, what a nice original 427 ....and one owner as well

Cheers,
Glen
