Default Buick AC Ace

Here is a great video of an aluminum Buick V8 powered AC Ace. As many of you know, that was almost the Cobra! Dennis Hurlock was writing to Buick to see if they could get some of these engines for their Ace sports cars. At the same time, legend has it, while on top of Pikes Peak for the hill climb, one Carroll Shelby, was asking GM reps about getting the same engine for a yet, undetermined sports car. The Pikes Peak part is probably another tall tale, but the Buick engine was not! Of course, neither Dennis, nor Carroll knew anything about Rover! And the rest is history! But this video is a cool, what if? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cIOcwB9Rn0

That motor in a Cobra actually makes a very sweet handling track car and tuned to around 300hp with a light diff a 4.6 liter motor will give most iron V8 motored Cobras a good run for their money on a track and should do a low 13s 1/4 mile time.

The Rover V8 is popular in the Hawk Cobra replica's across the pond.

My first car was a Buick with that engine! Great little engine but the car wasn’t really to my tastes. The price was right though! (Free from my grandmother with broken transmission!)
Fixed the transmission and sold it! I wasn’t old enough to drive yet!

Sexy little motor! I was going to build one of these up for insertion into a TR-4 some years back. I have much of that still in the garage. To old to build now, probably will sell all of it to someone to use in their build.
