COB is a Cobra! It stands for Cobra, Other, (meaning other the New York or LA) B loosely means Britain, but more precisely, right hand AC cars! Shelby and Ford did a deal with AC, that once the Cobra was homologated for racing, AC could market complete Cobras for the rest of the world. The first cars, in keeping with ACs previous codes was simply CS, then COB and COX, X as always, for export! They had serial numbers from 6101 - 6127, pretty rare. So the 140 doesn't make much sense. To make maters worse, the first cars were leaf spring MKIIs, and the later cars were coil spring bigblock bodies with 289 engines, called AC289 Sport! Sounds like it could be for a MKII where you had to modify it, so maybe 140, stands for something else? Cheers, Dennis
