Got it, I saw the previous reply that it was a factory car from the 80s. Can't you put it back? (Or as you mentioned, maybe a "repair")... If you like your current config put the compliant part on and then swap it back...
Every time I hear about stuff like this I'm reinforced on my decision not to take a job in CA.

Since I am not a do it your self-er I dont want to go down that road of seek out parts, replace and swap out after I get smog potentially!
I think it was actually you that said regarding the fit and comfort in the car that it would be advised to FIND ANOTHER CAR.... Your words ring true here also!!!!
thx

Can't disagree. If you're not a tinkerer and are frustrated with the notion then it's time to move on to something else.

I'd suggest a Austin-Healey 3000 if you are looking for a driver, but but being a 60s British car it might not have much better upkeep than a Cobra. They sure are pretty though.
I hate to utter the word Corvette but the cars to 1962 sure are nice looking. Same era T-birds. Cruising cars, American made, easy parts availability.
If you're looking for a kit then the Lotus 7 (Caterham 7) look cool and can be equipped with modern power trains.

I was born & raised in California. I left in 1989 and never looked back! Both my kids still live there, and I go back to visit them and old friends. Each time my wife and I come home to Wisconsin and say, "nice weather, but just too many people and crazy regs/laws"!
I we just moved out of Mass, (had a home there while my wife finished her work long enough to retire). It was just as crazy with trying to licence even a regular- new car!
