Default Superformance Cobra Headlight Upgrade Help

I have a newly purchased, 2022 Superformance Cobra MKIII-R
I want to upgrade the stock headlights. Perhaps something w/halo.
I'm thinking Oracle.
My questions -
1.) What is my plug type? H2, H4, H13?
2.) Will it be a simple plug-to-plug swap?
3.) I've been told upgrading to LED headlights w/Halo will require an additional hot wire run to the battery. True?

Thanks

Have you asked these questions to the people you bought your car from yet?

Yes, I have inquired upgrading my headlights with the shop that installed my engine.

At $200/hr, they are more the willing to accommodate my request and install whatever headlights I chose.

If you know which new style headlamp you want the same company usually sells short adapters if their lamps lamp sockets are not standard. I have H4's in my original WIPAC lamps. But your lamps are different from mine. Mine are not sealed beams. Early cars also had a second small bulb in each headlamp that functioned as a running (parking) light. Newer cars like yours don't have that 2nd bulb so any standard headlamp will work. Picking up a power point is easy under the hood if needed. ( i think the extra hot is for the glow ring) I have a Wiring Diagram available for your series chassis if need. Feel free to message me with questions.

The installer is not the firm that sold you your car. The installer is the individual who put the engine of your choice into your car. If you have a Superformance, as you indicate you do, the car was bought from one of Superformance's dealers — if it was bought new.

Irrespective of how it was bought, if you prefer not to go back to your dealer, then you can contact Hillbank Motor Corporation in Irvine, CA. Hillbank is the licensing authority for all Superformance Dealers in the US. They also sell the full line of Superformance replica and Shelby continuation vehicles.

Their facility houses a parts department that supports all the vehicles they sell and with a very high probability can give you the correct answer to your question — without charging you $200 per hour.

p.s. With small hand tools a headlight change is easily accomplished at home with minimal effort. If this sort of maintenance /modification represents a significant challenge for you, it is minuscule to the remainder of the Cobra experience. With that in mind, you might want to consider re-assessing how far down the Cobra rabbit hole you want to go.

Probably H4 a 3-wire system or at least is what was in #1855 and #2584.

My recommendation is always Hella 7" conversions with the H4 bulbs of your choice.
I buy from https://www.rallylights.com/hella-7-...dlamp-kit.html
They have lights with a City Light option.
Bulbs https://www.rallylights.com/hella-h4...remium-50.html

But you'll probably want to run a direct 12v line and use the factory wiring to trigger a relay.

If I wanted LED I'd run the Morimoto 2-Stroke H4 units.

The OP is in Phoenix. Didn't Hillbank have a Phoenix area store? I just looked and it's no longer listed... I was going to suggest he just saunter on down and ask but that doesn't seem possible...

Sage advice to any new Cobra owner. Cobras are a tinkerer's delight (or nightmare, depending on where your skill set lies). There is pretty much always something to do - some minor repair or preventive maintenance - or something you want to do (mods). If you want a car that you get in, drive and put away in the garage only to get in and drive next time, buy a Corvette.

I think you might have scared him off….
But he can get all kinds of help here for those little projects, and if there is a local Cobra club, all you need is a case of beer and some lawn chairs in the shade and you will have lots of help or guidance.

The Hella solution is solid. Just be sure you are getting the
US (SAE/DOT) not the ECE (Europe) variant.

I selected a fanless LED H4 as it would all fit inside the light bucket
without any further cutting or mounting mods. Just plug it in.
4000 lumens and noheat issues not having a cooling fan model.
Been running flawles 4 years.

US SAE, sorry no. I've always used E-Code for the light pattern.
But then I might be a bit of a rogue.

E-Code produces a more desirable beam pattern for sure.
States requiring vehicle inspections may get flagged if not stamped DOT.
Just sayin...........

If you don't care about legality, passing a vehicle safety inspection or blinding oncoming drivers, go right ahead. OTOH, that Hella headlamp is designed for a halogen bulb. Replacing the halogen with an LED bulb will instantly render it non-compliant with applicable DOT / SAE standards.

From Daniel Stern Lighting, "North America's premier automotive lighting consultancy and supply house. Mr. Stern is an experienced consultant in the field of automotive lighting science and technology, setup, regulation, development, history and modification."

This article primarily discusses the problems with "HID kits", but the concept and most of the issues apply equally to the "LED bulbs" now flooding the market. Like "HID kits", they are not a legitimate, safe, effective, or legal product. No matter whose name is on them or what the vendor claims, they are a fraudulent scam. They are not capable of producing the right amount of light in the right distribution pattern for the lamp's optics to work. The particular details of the incompatibility are different for LED vs. HID, but the principles and problems are the same overall. In one sentence: halogen headlamps must use halogen bulbs or they don't—can't—won't work effectively, safely, or legally.

I went to their site and looked at their photos. What I see appears to be MASSIVE GLARE with LED bulbs. 'nuff said.
