Default Need Tire Advice

It’s time to replace my Nitto NTO5 315/35/17 rear tires and I just found out they are discontinued. My dilemma is that these tires were a 200 treadwear and I never had a problem with them throwing debris or stones onto my fenders or fender wells. The replacement tires that are left are all 100 treadwear street/racing tires.
My question is this: are these 100 treadwear street/racing tires going to throw every grain of sand or pebble into or onto my fiberglass fenders? And if so, what other tires do you recommend in the 17 inch size that will give me great traction but do no damage to my body or paint?

They've been gone for awhile now. I run Mickey Thompson Street Comp @300aa.
Not much else out there except a Toyo @500aa, and Michelin @540aa.

All others are track tires from 0-100.

Starting to look like the 17s are headed the way of the 16s, and we'll be forced to go to 18" rubber bands or 15s. I'll go with 15"

I like the MTs. I don't track or parking lot race though.

Are you sure they are discontinued? I see SummitRacing still has them listed on their site with a March 23rd delivery date.

You could go with the Nitto 555-G2. They have a 320 treadwear rating. Obviously they won't stick as well as what you have, but your next option looks like going down to a 100 rating and they would really chuck the stones.

I was told by discount tire that they couldn’t order them because Nitto couldn’t give them a ship by date. I’ll check out summit.

Discount haS A SYSTEM THAT MAY not be friendly to our needs. Summit would be better. Used them one tiome to get MT's when discount couldn't in a timely manor. I like the nitto 555 G2. Not a 200 but pretty good.

If you are not driving on the track, I suggest the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT. If you are driving on the track, then I highly suggest the Toyo Proxes R888R

I second the Toyo R888Rs - it's an awesome tire. Only big drawback on most cars is the amount of noise they generate, but that's not an issue if you have no roof and side pipes.
