Is there a reason to run soft fuel lines versus hard lines for 80 psi requirement
for throttle body efi?

I would guess that the reason is that hard lines will crack and leak causing fuel spray and resulting in fire due to engine movement and vibration.

OEM runs hard line for high PSI except where you need flex - ie frame to engine.

I say hard line is safer. It is less prone to road damage.

OEM uses flexible nylon line stem to stern. They last more than 100K miles, and decades of use. No reason not to use them on your car. I use them on my race car. Easy to assemble, and inexpensive.

Aluminum hard lines will work harden from vibration and crack. Stainless will not. Hard lines are by far the most difficult to put in if you want to make the install look good. Flexible gas line rated for EFI usage or teflon lined AN style lines are by far the easiest and can be made to look very nice.

I have stainless both ways already with AN set up and good clamps where necessary. I just read that soft lines were better. Installing MSD Atomic and new in tank 340 fuel pump.

Personally im going to run 3/8 hard lines for the main runs and then flexi at either end.

You can make hard lines look good for sure, also a cheaper alternative if you are running E85 or flex fuel etc than fully running PTFE lines.

At 500Hp and up you will need a minimum -8 AN line. A -6AN Line runs the risk of starving the engine
