Default Double rally weekend!!

THUNDER ROAD 2023, an SCCA National Tour Rally on Saturday, June 17, 2023, and TWO LANE BLACKTOP, an SCCA Divisional Tour Rally, on Sunday, June 18, 2022.

THUNDER ROAD 2023

We are proud that last year's Thunder Road 2022 was named the Best New National Rally of 2022 by the SCCA, and we are striving to make TR23 even better. We will be running the most scenic and drivable roads in the San Gabriel, Tehachapi, and southern Sierra Nevada mountains, and through the farmlands and open vistas of Kern County and the Antelope Valley. We are working to make this rally worthy of the often-misused term “Epic Drive.” The rally is about 350 miles long and you will have about 8 and a half hours of driving nirvana with many breaks for gas, food, and rest stops.

TWO LANE BLACKTOP 2023

This rally will run our favorite driving roads in the Santa Susana and Topatopa mountains (two of southern California's transverse ranges), and through the farms, orchards, and open vistas of the Santa Clara River Valley, including the historic towns of Fillmore and Santa Paula. The rally is a little over 150 miles long and you will have just under 5 hours of driving excitement with frequent breaks for gas, food, and rest stops.

The object of both events is to enjoy driving sweeping, beautiful, challenging back roads at legal speeds while following simple directions in order to pass a series of Checkpoints at just the right time.

The Route Instructions will use a Monte Carlo format, meaning you get turn-by-turn directions, AND you get your target time at each Checkpoint. All Timed Checkpoints are listed in the Route Instructions, and all are referenced by prominent signs on the course. There are no preset average speeds, just run at the posted speed limits (rally is timed at least 2 mph BELOW those limits and has pauses where needed). If you reach a timed Checkpoint early, you can pull over, out of traffic lanes, and either creep, or stop and wait for your target time to pass by the Checkpoint.

There is no need for advanced math, no riddles, compasses, maps or gimmicks, just glorious roads to drive with a focus on precision and accuracy. This is a team sport -- driver and navigator must work together to get it right. The rallies will run rain or shine.

Register online at MotorsportsReg.com (separate registration for each event).

UPDATE!

We’d like to invite you to our upcoming DOUBLE RALLY WEEKEND on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18, 2023.
On Saturday, THUNDER ROAD 2023, an SCCA National Tour Rally, will run a course that we hope will prove worthy of the much-misused term, epic drive. This is a mammoth run covering 350 miles and taking a bit over 8 hours, reminiscent of ITN rallies of the past. It will take you through many of California’s diverse ecosystems – verdant valleys, towering river gorges, high mountain passes, open spaces where the views go on for days, working farmlands, twisty canyons, historic desert gold rush towns, and more. Since this is an SCCA National, there must be 2 and only 2 people (driver and navigator) in the car.

On Sunday, TWO LANE BLACKTOP 2023, an SCCA Divisional Tour Rally, will take a more bite-sized route. Running just over 4 hours, it will cover some of our favorite local driving roads through the farms, hills, canyons, orchards, and open vistas of the Santa Clara River Valley, including the historic towns of Fillmore and Santa Paula. For an SCCA Divisional, you can have as many people as there are seat belts in the car.
The Route Instructions for both events will use a simple Monte Carlo format, meaning you get turn-by-turn directions, AND you get your target time at each Checkpoint. All Timed Checkpoints are listed in the Route Instructions, and all are referenced by prominent signs on the course. We will be using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring. This app is free and available for both iOS and Android devices. Go to https://richtarally.com/ for the download.
You can enter either event, or both. There’s a $25 discount if you enter both. Rally headquarters will be the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 27501 Wayne Mills Pl., Valencia, CA 91355, exit 170 off Interstate 5 at Magic Mountain Parkway. Both rallies will Start from that location. Thunder Road will finish about 2 miles away. Two Lane Blacktop will finish in Moorpark.

To register online for Thunder Road, go to msreg.com/tr23.
For Two Lane Blacktop, go to msreg.com/2LB23.

Entry fee for Thunder Road is $95. There is a $15 discount for each SCCA member in the car. Entry fee for Two Lane Blacktop is $65, with a $25 discount if you enter both rallies. So 2 SCCA members running both rallies get a total of $55 discount!

We welcome those 18 and under. You will be required to complete, in advance, the online SCCA minor waiver and parental consent forms. Go to https://www.scca.com/articles/201689...king-life-easy for these forms. When you’ve done them, please print them out and bring to copies with you to the rally.
Please text 310 350 1360 or email carzero@aol.com immediately if you have any questions. Go to Welcome to ITN Rallye Club Home Page for more information, for both of the Event General Instructions, and for the route instructions from last year’s Thunder Road. Both of this year’s rallies will use that format.
We sincerely hope we’ll get to see you out there.
