Default Gear Brake Smart Brake Light Module

I am very happy with this device. The Cobra has a big engine and is lightweight, so in traffic, I simply let off the gas and the car slows quickly. Since this doesn't activate the brake lights, it is not a safe situation with so many inattentive drivers around. I have very nearly been hit many times. Some drivers have yelled "your brake lights don`t work"! They do work just fine, but I not using them. I was happy it find this Gear Brake module on Amazon. The one they sell has connectors for a motorcycle and I just cut them off leaving the 4 wires to connect. The instruction diagram shows which wire connects where and it was easy to wire it to the third brake light up on my roll bar. It could also be wired into the regular brake lights. I stuck the module on a flat spot in my trunk. I also wired a small LED to a the output and mounted that on the dash so I could see when the brake light activated. The calibration is easy. Tap the brake pedal 5 times and it shows a steady light for about 10 seconds indicating that the calibration is complete.

I took a test drive and was surprised how sensitive it is. It came on during upshifts. So, I wedged a 1/4 inch spacer under the front of the module. This reduced the sensitivity too much. I have settled on a spacer about 3/32" thick under the front edge, so that upshifts do not turn on the light, but engine braking does. I highly recommend this product to you guys.

Reminds me of a racing friend who would occasionally use his light switch to mimic braking so that the person following him would think that he is braking and start braking, thereby allowing my friend to put some distance between them before entering the corner.....
