Electric Cobras revisited
Sooo...
Now that its been decided that EV's are to be considered cool and Tesla ownership is required for acceptance into heaven - is there an accompanying shift in attitude towards electric Cobras?
SPF's pending MKiii-E is flirting with 0-60 times in the 2 second range and they've struggled to restrain the instantly-available torque to around 1000 ft/lbs!! Breaking the 355 section rear tires loose at 30mph is a toe twitch away.
For those die-hard dinosaurs among us who are addicted to having our auditory-neurons obliterated by the sidepipe basso-profundo, there might even be a throttle-linked, lumpy-cam simulated sound system - and, best of all - it uses a Tesla-sourced powertrain (Win-win-win. ).
https://youtu.be/ZPGGTg-Gfdw?si=iAoWRXwqMBKmj8iQ
EDIT - apologies for the nasty language in the video. The presenter, though clearly a man of faith waxes a bit bohemian in his enthusiasm to embrace the elon-gated torque curve of this magnificent electric vehicle.

I can’t say that my attitude towards EVs has changed. No soul - just not interested.

I raced this one 69/70
Special magnets, springs, foam tires
Every race part you could get
It flew literally, we just drag raced them

Well, no denying the numbers are impressive.
Detuned to 1000 lb.-ft. of torque.
Would be interesting to see some track results.
But at the end of the day .........
Range of 150 miles is weak.
Other than the initial power novelty of it, I don't see a compelling
event to spend upwards of $200K buying a soulless road toy.

Running through the gears, listening to the engine and feeling the vibration of a lumpy idle are all part of the pleasure. EVs are fast but, no thanks.

Definitely not for me. I have ridden in some Teslas and though the acceleration was impressive the build quality and low range was just no good at all. And the price is out of reason for what you get.

Paul, Imagine if he was driving the dual-motor Daytona coop
Nice to see that most remain unswayed. I was afraid that you were all rushing out to buy Teslas and this would become the "All Cybertruck Talk" forum.

Speaking of coupes - with the windshield pillars missing, that instantly reminded me of the Torero - one of my favorite Hot-Wheels cars of all time! Mine was blue with white interior just like this one.
And - speaking of drag racing electric cars - I drained my pocket money to pay $12 for one of these Hot-Wheels Sizzlers out of a huge track set that had been returned to the store for some defect and wasn't for sale.

The guy working there sold it to me under the counter. It was way ahead of it's time. It recharged through a small port just ahead of the left rear wheel and it was bad-ass! When we got tired of drag racing them, we'd turn them loose on a greased table top and watch them do crazy donuts.
Who sez electric cars can't be fun?

Electric cars are like microwaves. They may heat your food faster and more efficiently, but that doesn't mean that you're going to enjoy the food.
Very cool, but I'll take the rumble, gas smell and lack of technology. That's what I love about my Cobra. I sold my Porsche because the pop up ads and inability to self-service drove me crazy.

Pinch me - I musk be dreaming...
One of the videos by the company that installs the Tesla-sourced powertrains shows just that. You can order the musk-have option of a driver-controlled engine-sound simulator!
Imagine the joy of being able to select your preferred soundtrack depending on the mood ... Dilithium warp-drive, Ecoboost 4 cylinder, Roots-blown SOHC cammer or even a hemi or the awesome big-block Chevy to rattle the die-hard Ford guys at cars & coffee.
Turn the volume down to sneak home at ungodly hours or crank it all the way up to piss off the neighbors and trigger the alarms on their filthy, polluting trucks and SUV's. The possibilities are endless and the fun just never stops. Enjoy driving the fastest car on the street while - best of all - supporting Tesla. How can you lose?

And when the sound system goes out it sounds like a Musk-eto!
