Default Bring A Trailer Auction Site

Anybody have any experience buying or selling on BAT? Considering listing my Factory Turnkey ER289FIA for sale and that site seems to get considerable traffic. Seems like Curt Scott's Cobracountry has really taken a back seat. Comments appreciated.

I purchased an MGB GT several years ago through BAT and everything went just fine.

Thanks ... I had never heard of it until last year in talking to a guy who was interested in the car ... but said I might get a better price using BAT.

There are a few that basically have nothing good to say about anything. But trolls exist everywhere

Bought my 65 Sunbeam Tiger on BAT, but sold it privately not that long ago.

If you want to successfully sell on BAT, good quality pictures, inside, outside, underneath, full service (baseline, fluids, filters, tires, etc), documentation, cold start video, driving video, and an excellent, detailed write up (BAT will rewrite or cut and paste from earlier ERA FIA auctions, you will need to watch their rewrite like a hawk) at the very least. Next, if you are listing yourself, do not offer kneejerk reaction response, stop, take a step back, and respond to whatever questions you humanly can. If you don't have an answer, say so, if you have an answer, be direct and to the point, but not so much as to come off as an "A" hole.........Most of all, have fun....Yes, fun, sometimes less is more, and yes, as mentioned above, there are trolls, do not feed them........

As for paperwork, if you have the ERA docs, that will go a long way towards showing how the car was ordered........Bob at ERA can most likely find them in his files and send them to you with proof of ownership.......

Wish you the best of luck with the sale, I've been on the fence whether to list any of the cars in my collection there, my photography skills are not up to BAT standards, and there are no "partners" anywhere within a 4 hour drive at this time..If a local partner signs up, you may see one or two of mine eventually show up there.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences selling on BAT.
I think it caters to the exact demographic which I was trying to market too.
Some fans, some looking for a particular vehicle and quite a few that seem to have deep pockets when they find what they want.
I’ve sold an Elise, M Coupe, first gen 4Runner.
Each sale concluded smoothly and for a selling price that exceeded my expectations.
Since the buyer only pays the listing fee and the seller is responsible for the selling fees, I’ve always felt it a good forum to sell.
Honestly, as a buyer i think quite a few cars are oversold.
IMO, I don’t think it’s a good place to get a good deal on a good car.

Sold my E-M on BAT and shipped it to Paris, France. Seamless. I do miss it!

I have never bought or sold or even bid on BAT but watch some things there just to see what the class is going for.

It started as a two person venture that had a low audience and had a lot of high quality vehicles. It was bought by Hearst and went big time. They do quite a volume now and draw much more variety but they've kept their pricing structure extremely reasonable.

Like all auctions or "internet" sales, I'm leary of a sight-unseen purchase. Some of the auctions are of such a length that if you're really interested you might have time to arrange a Pre-Purchase Inspection before doing serious bidding... And if the seller won't let you, then that's a clue.
