Here's the problem on my West coast...
The fuel filler neck (hole in the fiberglass body) is too small diameter to install real fuel grade line. Mine was delivered from West Coast with a piece of LOOSE radiator hose with NO hose clamps installed on the LeMans cap or the tank neck. Therefore, when full the tank leaked into the trunk, where I have a 600 watt stereo amp, etc....
Good thing I noticed the FUEL leak and installed a new piece of RADIATOR hose there. Why did I use radiator hose??? Because the hole in the fiberglass body was too small for the CORRECT fuel grade line. No way to safely open up the hole with power tools. It's right over the FUEL FILLER NECK
I will be BUYING a new aluminum fuel cell soon, with a smaller fuel filler neck as a result..... It's OK, I budgeted for it in my final price for the car. Check to see what the H*#$ was used in between your LeMans cap and the tank neck...!!!!
On the positive side, I have repaired most of the factory "boo boos" and my babe and I attended the Seattle international raceway's Vintage races today in my machine, it was a blast !
