RE photo gallery

Bill,

I just went out and looked at some cars in the photo gallery and had no problems at all. My time here is 5:30 AM Pacific and I see yours was a few minutes prior to that.

 :)

Bill Wells 12-01-2002 06:36 AM

next to your name RON61 in your post their used to be a 'camera' icon which allowed access to your personal photo gallery (if any had been entered). THAT icon is missing now. so, on anyone's individual posting how do i access their photo gallery. ? i can't find it on my screen anywhere within the posting 'box' of my note or your note....has my puter gone goofy ? b

750hp 12-01-2002 06:37 AM

Bill - it worked fine from this side of the world.... Tell me you don't own the 2 hoists, T-bird, Shelby Stang AND Cobra!?!/  **) :3DSMILE:

Ron61 12-01-2002 06:44 AM

Bill,

That camera icon is still showing on my posts and it worked just now. I also used yours and went right to your photo gallery. Try checking your computer and if that doesn't work maybe log off and log back on and see what it does. I use AOL and ever so often I have to go in and delete about 20 files that keep running records of where I have been as they start to cause weird things. I just cleaned both of my computers of these files this morning and everything is working great now. I think with all the sites I go to my files sometimes get garbaged.

Bill Wells 12-01-2002 06:57 AM

well, this is sure confusing...750, yep thats me and the toys....ron61, i just shut down and waited a while and rebooted and still NO camera icon for personal photo gallery selection, or contributing member icons....this has got me confused. i ain't the brightest light on shore, and not bill gates tutor... i did upgrade to 03 version of norton's antivirus and personal firewall yesterday but all else is working fine on all other sites ..and it worked fine here before under the 02 version of nortons...so, dunno..but the icons aren't there on my screen. i will shut down again and let it cool down and try later. another example of a tv screen encircled in plastic and filled with wires inside outsmarting little old me ! thx guys. bill.

Bill Wells 12-01-2002 07:32 AM

i am at a loss guys...i shut down and waited and rebooted...NO icons appeared. I logged out and logged back in , and NO icons appeared...so guess my puter screen is screwy as the icons are not there on my screen and are on yours ! whazzup ? my system or a glitch on brent's end ? bill, cybergods win again

computerworks 12-01-2002 07:58 AM

Bill-
try clearing the browser cache (deleting Temp Internet Files on your computer)
If you have MS Internet Explorer:
select from the top menu:
Tools-Internet Options-Delete Files - (check the the box "delete all offline content") - OK

Ron61 12-01-2002 08:13 AM

Bill,

Ron's reply is good but I have had times that it still didn't clear the cache. I go back to the desktop and go to My Computer and open explorer and then delete the files by going to the folders. If you are running Windows XP then you will need to mark the folder option to show hidden folders and go down to the Temp. Internet folder which I think is in Documents and Settings. Also if it was working before see if your system restore created a restore point when you installed Norton's 03. If there are folders under the Temp. Internet folder ( there will be a + sign beside it if there are) then open them and delete any files that are in them also. It also helps to keep a rubber hammer near the computer for intimidation purposes. Do you have the little cup icon next to your name still ?**) **)

ROSS WEAVER 12-01-2002 09:56 AM

Bill,

My computer is doing the same thing. Must be a Michigan thing.

Ross

Ron61 12-01-2002 10:11 AM

Ross & Bill,

What operating system are you using ? I just tried both of your posts and clicked on the camera and it went right to your gallery pictures. Do your computers show the gold cup that designates you contributed in 2002 ? I went out into my CP and looked around and I really don't see any option there that I think would cause this. Maybe one of the moderators can help on this as I haven't seen anyone else having this problem. Strange that you are both in Michigan. California I could understand any site trying to reject. If you have system restore on your computers and they were working before you might try restoring to an earlier date and see if it works then. If it does then you need to look at anything you may have changed since that date. If it still won't work then it would seem to point back toward the site but then others should be having that problem it would seem.

Excaliber 12-01-2002 10:13 AM

Hawaii reporting in. It's working good across the left side of the pond.

Ernie

Bill Wells 12-01-2002 10:46 AM

ron61 and computerworks ...it didn't work. strange..and ross is on aol and i am with comcast cable network. i am using XP-Pro. all was fine with Nortons 02 before my Nortons 03 plus Nortons 03 personal firewall installs . I did not have the firewall before. i am missing both the 'camera' icon and the 'gold cup' that was there yesterday but gone today . Go figure !! these things are like water and oil leaks, you see the puddles but can't find the cause. just like electrical gemlins in old cars and cobras too !! bill

ROSS WEAVER 12-01-2002 10:47 AM

Ron61,

I'm using XP. The camera icon nor the gold cup shows up. I can go into the gallery from the main page, but have to do a search if I want to see a certain members pictures.

Ross

Brent Mills 12-01-2002 11:01 AM

Hmmmm....I see them, even on your posts.

What browser are you guys using?

Ron61 12-01-2002 11:02 AM

Ross & Bill,

I am on my computer running XP now and it works just fine also. I was on the other one with ME before and it works. I really don't see why the Norton's firewall would cause this. So far the only thing I have ran into with it is that I now have to manually click live update to download any new virus definitions. My computer with ME still loads them automatically.

Ross you can either try the system restore or since we are both on AOL I can tell you what files to delete and let the computer put them back again. I do this quite often as some of thse files get messed up and do cause some strange things to happen.

Bill Wells 12-01-2002 11:14 AM

brent, microsoft internet explorer 6.0 on my system. bill.

Brent Mills 12-01-2002 11:51 AM

I don't see why Norton's would have anything to do with it either.

You're sure you deleted all content from your cache?

In the browser:

1. Tools
2. Internet Options
3. Delete Files
4. A little dialog box will show up (select "delete offline content" as well. and hit ok.
5. Hit the refresh button on the browser.

Bill Wells 12-01-2002 12:12 PM

brent...i just did it again, deleted : temp files, offline content files, cookies, plus rebooted then logged out and logged back in..and nada. same thing, no icons. bill.

ROSS WEAVER 12-01-2002 12:47 PM

Brent,

I'm using Microsoft Internet Explorer (XP).

Ross

Ron61,

I'm not on AOL. I'm on Metronet.
