I have CCX-3-3446, built in 1990. I purchased it used--it had only accumulated 3000 miles in 12 years.

It has a 427 tunnel-port sideoiler. Two worked, Holley 750's with mechanical secondaries, sitting on a polished single-plane intake.

Close-ratio Toploader with large input/output shaft, 3.54 with quad shock Jag IRS setup.

Lots of polished aluminum panels, including the complete trunk, engine compartment, under-hood, and underneath. Have chromed suspension parts, half-shafts, etc. Pics in gallery.

HI MIKE,
I AM TRULY SORRY THAT YOU HAVE TO BE IN N.H. THIS TIME OF YEAR. THE WEATHER IS THE REASON I MOVED 1,000 MILES SOUTH.

SPARE TIME IS HARDER TO COME BY AS YEARS PASS. THERE ALWAYS SEEM TO BE MORE FAMILY OBLIGATIONS THAT TAKE YOUR TIME. I HOPE THINGS WORK OUT, AND I WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE GAINSVILLE THIS YEAR. WILL BE HOME FOR THE DEEP SOUTH COBRA MEET IN GAINSVILLE?
THANK YOU FOR THE COMPLIMENT ON MY CAR. I AM GLAD YOU
ENJOIED THE RIDE.

CCX 33845 - Bought DHB kit in Jan. 94. Took 2 years 8 months to complete. Have 23k miles after 6 years on the road.

1970 429 750 Holley - Toploader.
Lots of aluminum (not polished) and insulation under hood as well as under carpeting. Heat has never been a problem in the cockpit.
Painted it myself, Silver with black stripes. Love it.

John Montgomery 12-09-2002 07:18 AM

CCX-3-3344 built in 1989.

I purchased it 2 1/2 years ago from the original owner with 2800 mi. - it now has almost 6000 mi.

1968 427 SO. The original owner bought 2 427 crate motors from Ford back in '69, one of which he put in the Cobra and the other he still has...never used and still in the crate. So, the Cobra is the only car the engine has ever been used in.

Single 4bbl carb, 4-speed top-loader trans, Jag IRS 3.55 and Jag front suspension.

And an original AC luggage rack. :)

I bought Contemporary #CCX 42601 in August of 2000 as a very tired factory demo from Upstate Replicars. Paid too much for what the car was but what else is new. This car was the prototype for the Daytona Coupe that Contemporary never got around to making. When I got it the 351W was tired and the Webers were junk so it has a 390 HP smallblock in it with a single Holley. Torsion bar front suspension and the Jag based rear.
This car was the one in all the Magazines in the late eighties and early nineties. Gone is the A/C and power windows, heater and the goofy dash. It is now more traditional Daytona.

Don,

I'm pretty sure I won't be there for the DSCC event. Our car won't be done by then either :). If you go let me know so you can stop by and see my father and our shop. You need to go and show those guys how's it's done :D. How's Dino doing these days? Is he planning on attending the DSCC event? Take care Don. It's good talking to you.

any one under stand the specifics of the first # following the ccx?

Allan A 01-04-2003 09:28 PM

I almost purchased a Contemporary but was a little out of my league at the time. The owner does not need to sell, the car has a 427 Side Oiler with 5k miles on it. The car has chrome and polished alum. hardware throughout including the undercarage. It is still for sale for 50k in the Bay Area. I have photos if anyone is interested.

I bought #3152 in Dec. 2002 for a price so low it would make you crap. Don Borders built it in 1988. It has had a 427 SO originally.. It has a 428 in it now. I am about to drop a 427 back in..

Maybe now Don will turn loose some of the magazine slicks this car was featured in in 88/89..

Dominik 01-04-2003 11:24 PM

I bought 3080 recently, which underwent restoration before I tookk over the project.
it arrived it south-africa as the launch car in 85 or 87.

It had a side oiler once... XKE suspension, FORD CR toploader.

(where did my other reply go?)

thanks, bmalone to start this!
I am ready to sort them and organize, but CC access is still a nightmare with the buttons only working intermittently.

A german builder bought / copied 6 to 10 for the german market with different VINs starting with TP.

I search now for the VIN of the car that was the launch car for germany in the early 90s, idependent from the 6 ot 10 mentioned above.

CCX 3-3665 I guess.

Somewhere I also found a CCX spec sheet.doc, with a little history. the CCX body was a copy from CSX 3054.

The used numbers seem a little bit like filling the missing CSX numbers 3064 (?) to 3099 and following after CSX 3360, don't they? Especially the Daytona ...

for now I start an .exe with some numbers.

the number after the CCX seems to indicate 289 or 427 style body.

Dominik:

I have a Contemporary that was built in Virginia by a Contemporary dealer (he was a crook that they disavowed in mid project - but I digress) in 1991. At the same time that he was building mine, he was building several cars for Contemporary that were sent over to Germany. He probably built the one that you are referring to.
