She lit the fuse...
....actually it was my wife who started CS on his pi$$ed off mode. Many years ago when Carroll was in the middle of a spat with Brain Angliss (understand that they were on again/off again "Buddies) she went up to him at the SAAC convention and had him autograph something...it was an AC Mk IV warranty card! He suddenly left the autograph line and that night at the banquet (which we did not attend) he went off into a tirade about replicas and the scum who build/buy/own them.
She still smirks when this comes up.
One day when I have time I will post some of the Shelby/Angliss stories that I was privy to. Like the time Brain called me at home to let me know he was sitting at Shelby's pool.....and running up Carroll's phone bill.
