At $600 a quart I wouldn't drive the thing! I agree with the idea of stcking with something that could be easily touched up.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Just think how trick some Houndstooth stripes and seat covers would look.

Since the new rage among the Aluminum car owners is to leave it raw aluminum, I thought this would be the right thread to suggest that we need some brave soul to do an all fiberglass car and take it down to bare glass fibers.

Have the mat fibers exposed. You don't have to worry about people running their slimey hands over your car at a car show and asking if it is real or not. It should have the look and the of a porcupine, and easy to touch up.

Default Brilliant!!

Turk....again....wise sage advice

Grind of all the paint and leave it raw....Lots of sharp, quills poking from everywhere....now...that may be the ticket!

You are right....easy to touch up and maintain...no washing...just a bit of steel wool....

Never mind bare fiberglass, how about a bare Carbon Fiber or Kevlar body.

Mike,
The orange paint looks good but I don't like your choice of fabric for the seats. People are likely to think your Cobra is a picnic table and chairs.

Cheers

Mohuska, IMHO, blues and reds are WAY overdone. (mine is a denim blue.) Black is just boring. So is white. I dont like yellow. Pastels are wrong for these cars. Same for Chromalusion. Grays look like shiny primer. There arent too many green Cobras that I have seen. Cadillac (!!?!) had a nice green metallic called Brewster Green, in 1972 or so. The super-dark browns, blues, and burgundies, the ones that almost look black until the light hits a curve, now that is what I would change my color to, if that scenario ever pops its little head up. You could always go into a large department store, with a large cosmetic section (dont ask how I know this!) and look at the nail polishes. There are some WILD reds and burgundies there!! Good luck!! Yeah, Turks former car was dark blue, looked almost black in pictures.

Was it a bit different color than most - yes
Was it a great looking car - yes
Would most folks give their left nut for a car like that - yes

There is a nice bluish green that was used on the 92 bonnevilles that was pretty nice. it had a greenish base with translucent clear that had three different colors of metalic. Had red blue and silver. Nice part about it was that it was a stock color and could be matched and the color change was subtle from a green to a gunmetal gray at night.

Default Decisions.....Decisions..........

Many thanks to all for the great feedback......I gave up the Chameleon paint idea.....My wife said it would look like a "pimpmobile"

She also had the great idea of looking at finger nail polish colors (thanks edley!!).. I took my car up to the painter....this guy is AMAZING!!......I am going to break the mold (a little).......all I will say is that it should be a sight to behold (in a good way)....

I will be showing her off at the DVSF III.........

BTW....I still would like to hear more ideas....Thanks again everyone

Give each section it's own color. Hood and trunk could be blue and black the right quarter panel could be red, the left green, the rear right quarter could be orange and the left rear silver.

Or you could paint it like the Partridge family bus.

My choice for color would come down ot shades of silver/pewter or a dark blue. -- no stripes
