Willow Springs Pictures
I am in the picture posting mood today. So here are the pictures I took a Willow Springs, CA a few month ago. It was a beautiful hot California day and I even got to take a ride in a real 289 FIA Cobra see first picture below. Thank you Dan!
SnakeBoy http://cobraproject.com/willow/DSCN1453.JPG Here are pictures of the cars getting ready to go out on the track for a day of fun. http://cobraproject.com/willow/DSCN1474.JPG Here are all of the pictures I took in ZIP format. http://cobraproject.com/willow/willow.zip |
Wow, That's a JBL!
Wow, That's a JBL!
Very nice pics. What happened with the JBL? Looks as though the driver got lucky. Was he ok? |
nice pic's. Is that "Slide" in the Gelcoat ERA?
|
Great pics!
Thanks, Paul |
Yea the guy in the JBL was okay I think the metal brace in the door helped to keep him safe. He spun out and then flew back up on the track where a guy in a Mustang Cobra ran into him.
Yes there is a picture of a 289 FIA still in the Gelcoat. He "Clyde" is one of our friends that goes to the Ventrua Sandwich Factory. He just finished the car and now needs to get it painted. If you download my pics of the Ventura Sandwich Factory you will see some better pictures of the car. There is another ERA right next to his that is painted. SnakeBoy |
Yeah, Slide=Clyde
Cool! :MECOOL: Who owns the maroon ERA in the Sandwich Factory Pics. Love those gold wheels! |
He is the guy standing right behind the car. This is the first time he came to our meeting and I did not get his name yet.

Snakeboy,
Can I/should I attend your next Ventura meeting? I have been reluctant to attend because I don't have a Cobra to drive yet. I've been shopping for a Cobra for about a year, and the more I learn the more confused I get about which brand to buy! At this point I'm actually considering a Porsche! Maybe you guys can prevent me from making a terrible mistake. |
Wow! A Porshe....That's pretty bold of you to say in these parts!:D Is the confusion in the amount of money you have to spend, quality, resale value or something completely different? There are many companies to choose from but I think that the more informed you are the easier the choice becomes. Take your time, go to gatherings, compare every line, set up & price tag(if need be). The Choice will come to you! The confusion will be no more.

Dave R,
Had 2 Porsches and sold them to buy the Cobra. Although they are both sports cars they are very very different cars. Come to the next Sandwich Factory meeting. Many show up without a Cobra. You will meet a great group of guys and gals. Take care, Steve D***ey |
Easy there, don't get your IRS in a wad, I was only kidding. I am hopelessly and obsessively committed to owning a Cobra. My problem is features vs. budget vs. how it will be used. At first I leaned toward the typical show owners mentality of big block unlimited power and bullet proof 9 inch rear. But since I spent 8 years on the So Cal kart circuit (including Willow Springs) I am a road racer at heart and am now leaning towards less weight and better handling. I want a car that does fairly well at WSR but I also want to be able to drive it on the street (pump gas). I spent months researching engines and now I am learning about suspensions. I have narrowed the Mfg down to B&B, Lonestar, or Midstates, probably with a four link and panhard. Some of the posts here say you need an IRS at the track, so now I'm considering FFR IRS. What confuses me is that the FFR literature makes it sound like thier new 3 link is almost as good as an IRS. Any opinions?

Snakeboy,
Are the downloadable Ventura pictures on your site? I couldn't log on, what's the secret? |
Do a search for "Ventura Sandwich". It sould be the first & second thread there. Click on the links in his posts. Great pictures!

Snakeboy,
Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us. Mike 'monster' |
Tongue Pirate,
I see the Ventura pictures now, thanks. |

You are more than welcome to come to the next meeting at the Ventura Sandwich Factory. The ratio of car owners to people who are building Etc is about 60/40. My car is not finished yet but it has four wheels on it now. I will post a picture at the end of this thread so you can see where I am. I am building a FFR IRS kit with all new parts. Steve Dickey should be bringing his newly finished ERA 427 to the next meeting. He has been building his car for about a year now and he has made it to almost every meeting this year. You pick up good information at the meetings and it is a lot of fun too. E-mail me your e-mail address and mailing address and we will add you to our list so you will know when the next meeting is. See you there. http://cobraproject.com/gocartpics/DSCN1350.JPG |
Sorry duplicate post!

Snakeboy,
Why isn't there an engine sitting between those frame rails?? Didn't you finish it 8-10mo ago? Later, Steve |
The maroon 289 fia belongs to Pete Monrow from Palos Verdes. He just got it on the road a month or two ago. Very nice guy and built it all himself. I'm sure he will show up to more of our meetings and is very anxious to take to the track.

That picture was the best shot I have showing all four wheels on the car. The engine is in and here are a couple of pictures of it. Are you driving the ERA 427 around lately? If so maybe you could cruse over here to Oxnard and we can take a couple of pictures of it and put them up on my website. The we can post them to the forum from there. Call me if you want to come over this weekend. cell 805-341-1310 http://cobraproject.com/engineinpics/DSCN1357.JPG Here is one before I put it in the frame. http://cobraproject.com/enginepics/DSCN0790.JPG |
